OK, here is my review in the TW format of the Pro's Pro Gutex 17. It was fairly easy to string.
Tension it is strung: 60 pounds on a lockout machine full bed Your regular string set up: Discho Microfibre 16 Racket: Pro Kennex 7G (this is different than the others tested in the Babolat PST+)String pattern of your racquet: 16 x 20 Power (or lack there of): Medium powered multi Feel: Good Tension maintenance: Came off the racket at 64.8 pounds and ended up at 53.5 pounds before I cut it out. Price: $6.70/set or $67.70/reel Overall comments and feedback: See below General: This string reminds me a lot of the Pro's Pro Hi Tec Multifibre and Mantis Comfort Synthetic. It is not quite as soft but has a little more pop which many people complain about with those 2 strings. Serve/Return of Serve: Serves were pretty good and returns were also fairly good. Strokes: Spin was average but depth control was good. Volleys: Volleys are OK with this string. Usually these softer multis don't shine at net anyways. Touch shots: This is pretty good for touch shots. Softness: While not quite as comfortable as MCS, it is still on the softer side for a multi. Tension: Seemed pretty good at 60 pounds. Durability: I played 4 sets of singles with this. I ended up cutting it out because it is 17g and I felt like it was getting ready to break soon. Movement: String movement was CRAZY. After a few hits in the warm up, strings were all over the place. Conclusion: This is a very nice offering for the price if you can deal with the string movement. |

Polys and multis are just very different. You could also try Head Intellitour and maybe some of the poly/multi blends such as NXT Control and Tecnifibre DuraMix. |

I officially hate all multis except RIP control.
My personal stance is that nothing is better than gut - nothing. The Microfibre is an excellent multi, but it is not even close to my setup of choice. I had to use it after breaking my gut mains, and it was just not up to snuff in terms of the power/spin/feel combo I got used to.

To clarify for others, you like gut/poly which is still quite a bit different from full gut. Given that you like gut/poly, it makes sense that you like RIP Control. It gives you the spin of a multi with some power too. My problem with gut is just too much power. I love it on serves but I can't flatten out my shots well with it. I'm trying to get away from just hitting looping topspin all the time as I get older. |

I actually really like the power of the gut in the PDR, which is a cannon. I use the poly crosses to control it, and that level of spin makes it very controllable. I can flatten out shots as well. It has just helped me control my swing better and I can hit more consistent.

Nice review of the Gutex. Did you ever put up a review for the Hitec Multifiber?

Just changed my first post to combine it with my old Mantis Comfort Synthetic review. I might go back and change that review to the new format one of these days. Not trying to put you on the spot here, but I can't tell a difference between those two strings. MCS is a little more expensive here in the USA than the Multifiber so I'd buy the Pro's Pro if looking for the softest multi at the best price. You carry a lot of multis, so I may try some more of them in the future. |

How long did Prince Attack last for you Mike? I got it at sixty in the Ki5 I bought and I think I am on like hour 9 and it is still playing great. I ask because I have 3 hours of tennis tonight the second portion of which is a league match and I need it to last, did it notch or anything?

This is what I wrote in my review available via the link in post #1: "Durability: Because the strings don't move that much, I thought notching in the same place could be a problem. Logged 15 sets of singles on PPA and 2 sets of doubles. I cut it out because the last 2 matches my shoulder has been a little bit sore." |

I'm hoping to find somebody tonight to try out the 2 new string setups. Otherwise, I won't be able to hit with them probably until the end of next week.

Unfortunately, our next beach trip is in the exact opposite direction. All the way up in Maine. We are going to try to go to Florida right before the end of the summer though. |

Ah, Maine in the summer. That will be a nice vacation. Do you know what city in Florida you'll be staying? |
