Oyen wins 3 & 2 at #4 to put the Gators up 3-0.
I'm feeling confident with Mather and Embree still on the courts! |

Good job Florida. Love to watch UCLA go down in anything. Impressive!

Allie Will calls a injury time out since she is about to lose the match down 5-2 in the 2nd set against freshman Anderson. Why does the Umpire allow this ? This is such poor sportsmanship and is pathetic.

Because Will is allowed one MTO and officials can not dispute if a player is injured or not, mainly due to liabilities issues, even if the official may believe it is a stalling technique.

Sportsmanship is dead in college tennis. Not news really.

she only did it to give Anderson a chance to close out her match.

Show me in the rules why the umpire shouldn't allow it?

It's not that the umpire shouldn't allow it (it would be quite the chore to determine whether players are taking a legit MTO), it's that the players shouldn't do it unless actually injured. Only they know.
We can robotically dismiss any behavior with "it happens all the time," as someone said previously. Last edited by bluetrain4 : 05-22-2012 at 12:56 PM. |

Shades of John Isner against Somdev Devvarman in the team match about five years ago. I cannot remember if it was a medical time out, or just excessive stalling between points.

They did make a good step by limiting the players to one MTO per match instead of one per injury a couple of years. It seems like the amount of MTO's for what appear to be gamesmanship reasons has cut way down. |

wow quite a beatdown of UCLA in the finals - great job and congrats to the Gators
Duke will have everyone back trying to get some revenge and block the three-peat next year - looking forward to some more exciting matches between those two teams |

The 4 teams in the semi finals as well as Stanford return a high percentage of starters and have solid recruits committed. I see 4 out of these 5 teams again being in the final four next year.

It would be nice if that other guy in the picture was having the same kind of success as his partner.
