What Scissors Cut Leather Grips?

I'm having trouble cutting my leather grip cleanly with a pair of dressing scissors. They're really sharp, but I don't know why it doesn't work.

I have loads of scissors around the house, but giving you a name would be pointless. Either it doesn't say, and they've been around too long, or you wouldn't find them easily.

If you have a Harbor Freight around, look for the multipurpose scissors with stainless steel blades, item # 67405 or 47877. They're nothing special, but cheap enough.

might not be the scissors, perhaps it's the person holding them?

I have cut dozens of leather grips with you standard, dull, off the shelf kitchen/household scissors.

Time to eat some spinach!

I just use my one and only pair of scissors I found from Walmart for about 5$ O.o , Like *nyc* said, its probably the person holding them. Try not to take little cuts each time to slice it all the way through, one full cut ( fully open scissor to all the way closed. -_-)

I've never had a problem cutting leather grips with any scissors, but I do prefer to use a razor knife. It makes it easy to cut a clean line at the proper angle. Just don't slip and cut your finger off, or cut into the frame.

Sometimes I'll use a box cutter and a straight edge instead. If it's sharp enough you can get a much cleaner/straighter cut.

If you're near a Home Depot, they regularly carry a 4-pak of scissors in assorted sizes.($10) The largest pair works well for cutting string, the 'standard' pair will work for your grips.

You're not a lefty trying to use 'righty' scissors, are you? It's important that your scissoring pressure act to squeeze the blades together rather than opening them, allowing the blades to be forced apart.

I'm no expert in the field, and have not tried cutting leather, but the "Fiskars" brand of scissors in my experience have some serious cutting power. It's the way the blades "scrape" together when you close them. Lots of cutting power.

Lowe's carries some cheap scissors with red and black plastic handles that work for me. They don't have any brand markings on them, but I use them for all my overgrip and leather grip cutting.

I bought a pair of medical wrap cutting scissors. It has a sort of guard that protects the handle somewhat so it doesn't scratch the handle like perhaps regular scissors.

I also cut my leather grips with some non-branded scissors from Lowe's.

I use an x-acto knife, an easy cut when you lay it on a surface and the blade is new.
