Glad to hear that the surgery seems to have gone well, and you are not in too much pain.

Continued best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Candidate, no actually, the award goes to you for idiot of the year.
it made no difference. a tendon tear isnt the kind of thing that can heal on its own.

everything is going great. just about one week post surgery and im off the pain meds and feeling no pain. cast should be off next tuesday.

R2, congratulations on receiving the Idiot of the Year award. Honestly, I don't know what kind of weight or status Say Chi Sin Lo's recognitions carry, but irregardless, it's quite an accomplishment considering the strong era we are living in.

Good to hear your surgery went well.

Hah! Fave post of the day.

GOAT idiot of the year on TW was probably '99-01...oldies but goodies. This era is weak in comparison. I mean, these days we know all the comments are coming from those with strange new sprigs of hair growth. But back then, we thought TW and other chat boards were the 'pubs' of the 21st century...adults only. Nothing like someone offering to meet you for a 'throw down' in some airport in flyover country.

Wife: "What's this!? $300 flight to Wichita last Wednesday?"

Me: "Yeah, sorry babe. Got into a heated argument about guys with two-handed backhands being cooters and was challenged to a fight on the TW boards. The guy was from the east coast, so we arranged a meet-up halfway".

thanks everyone.

once the cast comes off ill probably start "cycling" on the stationary bike. then switch over to running when im ok to swing my arm like that.

i can still do pistol squats and something like bicycles for my mid-section. guess ill investigate other things i can safely do with mt pt when that time comes.

Wow! You (and TW) go back that far? Time - she is a'flyin'. If someone could direct me to an archive of the early days of Talk Tennis (I gave it a short, unfruitful effort), I'd have no problem blowing thirty minutes or an hour reading the ancient script.

Oh, yes! Those were the wild wild west days of TW. I can't remember if I first joined in '98 or '99 (was in grad school at the time) but it was hilarious. Moderation was minimal compared to today...name-calling, threats, Head Pro Tour 280 vs 630 arguments, Deuce and Larry Hall were in full effect...good times.

a month removed from surgery. i start rehabing with actual weight in 2-3 weeks.

brian shaw did this in march. somehow, he will be competing in WSM competitions in september. i've read some guys using hgh to help with healing. i'm guessing shaw is using some sort of steriod

Here's Brian Shaw doing a 1073 deadlift after tearing his bicep earlier in the competition:

Below is an interesting article on Shaw and strongman in general:

he didn't know at that time that it was his tendon, not the bicep muscle.

pretty amazing. but with his strength, its not surprising he could compensate with the rest of his body. but it is surprising he could right after it happened.

i'll bet he couldn't have done a bicep curl. not much of one anyway

and there wasnt really any risk of him damaging this further. it was snapped. but he could have done damage by compensating with other muscles and straining them however.

Tomorrow marks 15 weeks post-op. I'm able to comfortably curl 40's for 10-15 reps. I'm doing assisted pullups with 70 lbs. counterweight. Pretty sure I could safely do pullups, but I'm a little scared anyway.

I've been out playing tennis for the past 3 or 4 weeks. Saturday I was trying full forehands. Hit several for the first set, but my arm started to hurt some, so I went back to "pushing" and slicing. Can't quite hit full serves yet. I'm using my regular motion, but only serving at about 2/3rd's.

I expect to be pretty much 100% in the next few weeks to a month.

Nice to hear progress is being made. Would the Jay Berger style put less pressure on your arm in the interim?

I played a match against one of my "regular" partners this morning. Was hitting and serving at probably 90%.

So 16 weeks and I'm almost back to normal.

Are you using full poly with a Babolat racket?

^^ There is probably an inside TT joke in that comment that I don't get.

I play with a Babolat Aero Pure Control

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Revi...APCReview.html

It is strung with a Luxilon Power Spin / Prince Original Synthetic gut hybrid.

I string the Lux @ 50lbs. and the Prince @ 56lbs.
