Pretty sure most of the people on Henman Hill don't know jack about tennis and are there to have a nice picnic at a unique location.

Great another Murray hatin thread.
I live in Scotland for 27 years since I was 7. Over in the UK there is a strange thing where people like to knock people who are successful and Murray is no different. I see a lot of similarities with Andy and Hewitt (minus the GS wins) where their fiery characters can rub people up the wrong way. Murray and Federer both possess the most variety and tennis is a better game with these guys around. Sure maybe it's better to conform and have a nice personality so fans can 'connect' but it ain't a popularity contest in professional sports. |

I like Andy Murray - and I'm NOT from Britain.

We appreciate violence, Nalbandian only enhanced his popularity with his 'shinanigans' |

England is part of Britain. When referring to all British fans being hooligans, you are generalising not just England but also Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. |

Nothing at all because he isn't. End of discussion.

It's his baby tantrums on court. Most normal people are put off by that kind of behaviour.
It's like watching a man with a badly behaved 5 year old's brain, playing tennis. It's off putting for most people. Johnny Mac was at least funny. |

Ah, so THAT's where Murray's been going wrong? He's just not hooligan enough! Maybe he should kick a few more hoardings and damage a few more shins. Now 'Gentleman Tim' Henman used to do that all the time. That's why he was so popular with the Wimby crowd!
Problem solved!

Murray can enhance his popularity by wearing kilts.

Re Murray. I'm English. I dont hate Murray. But then neither do I root for him, as I just can't warm to him. I also know few people who like him, but hate would be rather strong. I'm not convinced that people engage with Murray that much to detest him to that degree- altho reading previous posts it seems some think him a deity and others practically Satan!

Visions of "A Clockwork Orange" now dance through my head! Headed out now for a spot of ultraviolence amongst assorted visiting Brit tourists here in Orlando. Will send them your regards.
