Default Historic video: Guillermo Vilas training at Roland Garros 1977.

This is a very nice and interesting video to watch. Vilas training at Roland Garros 1977 with his coach, Ion Tiriac:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltg2q2rOU7E&feature=plcp

I asked to the author of this video if those images really belong to that year, and he confirmed it to me.

I recommend you guys watch it! Also I would like that this video gets to have millions of visits and a lot of comments, the same in this thread. Please watch and comment.

Good to see him working on his volleys, which are pretty good, and topspin lobs.
I wished he'd have worked on his first serve more.

This video comes from a VHS video which was commercialized in France. Vilas is the hardest worker of tennis history. Winning the FO was a great thing for him, because a lot of people thought he could'nt ever win a Grand Slam, because in 1975, 1976, and even AO 1977, he lost a lot of finals or SF in Grand Slams.
Vilas worked his volley during all his career, and he has a good volley, as we can see in this video, or in the videos of his australian victories.

Great video-memories.
Remember him at Oz Open, beating marksie in the final at Kooyong.
Nobody worked harder on the practice courts that year...watched him from start to finish, day after day.
Even when he played matches he put in a solid workout.
he hit thousands of serve with Tiriac, he was always looking for an edge..
his legacy is all the players like Franco Davin, Nalby , Coria, Chela, Monaco,
Delpo, Schwank etc.
Thanks

That was cool. I don't think I've seen Ian Tiriac hit the ball before.

Vilas was a good looking fella, no question about that...

However, how much involved was he with the dictatorship of the Generals (1976-1982), is something that I havenīt figured out yet.

1977 was an incredible year for Vilas. And Connors, who didn't win a Grand Slam that year, was n°1 ath ATP ranking. Absurd !

Love Vilas's backhand, (and that Head Vilas racquet).

I think Tiriac won FO in doubles. But he wasn't a very good single player.

I donīt know! It looks for me as a hard court. I would say, in 1975 or 1976.
