Default Volkl Tour 10

I have a couple of these older racquets and love the feel and flexibility. Does anyone know of any newer model racquets with similar specs and feel, Volkl or otherwise? thanks.

Are you referring to the Gen 1? It's matte black and the top of the racket is yellow and the grommets wrap all the way around to the top? If you are, then join the club my friend because there are a few of us looking for that frame or something like it. It seems that nothing has really been a replacement for that racket. If you still want classic volkl feel, you could try the C10 Pro. Just a heads up about the C10, the upper hoop has a lot of flex to it.

If you used the Tour 10 Mid then I highly recommend the Becker London Tour. Same mold as Volkl Tour 10 Mid and has a very classic Volkl feel.

If you were a Tour 10 Midplus user give the Becker Delta Core Melbourne a Try. Again another Volkl MOLD (Quantum 10 Tour) and classic Volkl feel.

I've switched from that racquet to a Vantage 95 16x19. It's a bit firmer and slightly more powerful, but I've adapted very well to it.

Try the Pro Kennex Q Tour. It's the closest thing to the Tour10MP I've found. I have not tried the Melbourne though.

The Tour 10MP is / was a classic. I tried the C10 Pro which is very good but perhaps more demanding. The Volkl Organix 10 325 is a newer version of the 10 series but much stiffer and feels completely different but nevertheless is a good stick. I've finally settled for the BB London which is a bit lighter but has many similar characteristics to the Tour 10 and has a similar nice soft feel and I understand can e customised with some lead if you need more clout.

Looks as if a pro stock version of the Tour 10MP is now available...

Intresting that Jiri played with a Gen II. I have both. IMHO, The Gen I is completely deserving of the near cult stauts around here. The Gen II is however, completely undeserving of being largely ignored.

Have any Tour 10 MP users tried the new Donnay Pro 1? Specs close to the T10mp; 11.5/11.7 static, 64/62 flex, 4pts hl/5pts hl, both have swingweights of 327 and are 16x19. The X-P Duals, along with the Becker London, were probably the closest in feel to the T10mp and the Pro 1 is getting good feedback, so I think this one is a must demo. Biggest difference I see is the Pro 1's thicker beam.

Hi dParis,

Funny you should ask. I've a P1 coming fed ex tomoro. Freakin loved my brief demo. Nothing short of a revelation for me. Have purchased a used one just for an extended test drive. Hadn't noticed the spec similarities to the Tour 10 till you pointed that out. Maybe thats why I was able to find a groundies groove with it so quickly. It felt like an old friend.

The P1 hits like buttah. So very sweet feeling. Has that slightly damp, how can I say this.... thud/woomph, feel/sound, that I love, rather than a raw/twangy feel. Has amazing control, remarkable stability even at such a low weight. When I lean in to hit those deep shots to the corner that puts the other guy in scramble mode, The racquet seems to understand my intentions. Compared to either of the Tour 10 MPs, it plays firmer, yet with less vibration, more damp, and more power.

I went sniffing around more arm friendly sticks that would allow me to keep using my Gut M / Poly X stringbed, and seem to have stumbled in to something thats going to be a much better fit for my game all the way round.

So, someone recommended the BB Melbourne, and, others have mentioned the BB London, as the closest alternative to the Tour 10 MP. Which is it? Has anyone played with all three rackets? Curious. Thanks.

Cool. Keep us updated in this thread, if you don't mind.

Haven't played with the Melbourne, but I've played with the other two. The Mel is from the same mold, but .3oz heavier and 18x20 string pattern. Somewhat surprisingly, I haven't heard many people compare it to the Tour 10mp (besides vsbabolat and maybe one or two others). I thought the London at the time I demoed it, was the closest racquet in feel to the Tour10mp and I compared the two in some detail in one of the London threads. Sort story, the London is like the T10's little, lighter brother. While that makes it more maneuverable, it also results in a not as heavy ball, less power (or more rhs needed for similar power) and less stability. Still, the London is a fine racquet, overall.

I think the Pro Kennex Q Tour is pretty close to the T10MP Gen 1 though it's an 18x20. The Pro One is much much thicker, but I don't know how it hits.

Coincidentally today i just put 2 T10 Gen I on the used board. One is a Mid, other is a MP. Plus 2 even more elusive C-10 Pro Tours.

I played with Donnay X-Dual Pro, and it is NOT like T10. It is stiffer, less power, less feel, less spin.
BB London is also not like T10. I find it difficult to control shots with London. It also swings completely different.

If I were to designate the closest match, I would say C10 Pro Extended.
It is lighter and stiffer than a regular C10, and is approaching T10 in precision and feel.
Its only drawback is that it is somewhat slow through the air, probably due to its extended length. I intend to shorten mine and see how that goes.
I feel that C10 Pro Extended is closer to the original than T10 Gen2.

Why do we need all these posts from new users that basically read: 'I really liked the Volkl xxx, what contemporary Volkl or Becker plays like it?'.

Its just marketing and not very subtle. If people want to do some marketing then contribute something to the discussion rather than pose these empty, spurious questions.

And this is not me laying down my own rules, read TW Policies:
