There are people watching tennis for the first time that don't even know who the players are. There are people that don't know what inside-out forehands are and others who don't know what a break point is.
Having a wide range of personalities and people willing to talk about (or having) different levels of the game is what we need and it is what we've got. They not only have to appeal to the crazy tennis fans (like us), but they also have to appeal to a football fan watching a tennis came for the first time. Sometimes the "outside" announcers, coming from the football backgrounds and such, may not appeal to us tennis forum members. What they appeal to is the general public and sometimes they really do make the game interesting, often adding to the sense of occasion. It's what we need and it's what the sport needs. I have noticed that the way Carillo acts is dependent on who is up there with her. I think her and drysdale make a decent combination. I especially like Brad and even Patrick. I guess I don't understand what the big deal is. We are extremely lucky we get to see as much as we do. When people complain about other events going into our tennis time, does anyone realize tennis matches commonly cut into other events? Ok, that's off topic. I saw a short tennis mtach online with no sound. You quit taking bad announcers for granted after that. I doubt there is anyone on this board that doesn't understand the importance of the comentating. I don't think there are many other good options out there. It could be worse.
