Default Is Murray liguistically challenged?

I saw his post game interview with BBC, it seemed to me he's unable to answer questions posed to him. I mean they were bread & butter type questions, yet he never addressed them. Maybe he was so emotional after the win or maybe this is just the way he handles the press? I admit I haven't seen too many pressers of his, so need some insight.

BTW anyone know why he refused to say why he was pointing to the sky?

He's usually fine, he was crying on the court after the match so I think you're right in saying he probably wasn't paying too much attention during the interview, his head must of been all over the place.

As for the pointing to the sky, i'm guessing it's a personal thing about someone close who isn't here to see everything he's achieved this week.

He looked very dazed and emotional to me, that's all. He's never the most eloquent speaker at the best of times, but then again witty repartee isn't a necessary skill in Murray's job. Oscar Wilde's crosscourt backhand was probably pish, but I'm sure he didn't get flak for it.

Wild guess at the finger thing: he's had a friend or relative pass away recently, but he's keeping quiet about it?

MDL

Don’t forget the Dunblane school massacre that killed 17 people.

I think he tries really hard to keep his emotions in check. Saw his presser after the Ferrer match and he spoke with the vocab of a 6 year old. I am guessing he is trying hard to say the right things and when he can't think of the right response he does his mumbling thing.

He's linguinically average I'd say, and gets by quite well if he really does play as much COD as Gilbert and the Daily Mail claim.

Despite the fact that he seems determined to provide zero copy to the media, his avowed lack of concern for his parents' emotional trials was rather funny.

Some people are just shy, that and I agree with everyone who says he was probably a bit dazed.

No idea about the finger thing, I don't know if he's religious or anything.

I don't really think he has to, if someone who was close to him has passed away recently and he wants to share a little moment with them during one of the biggest moments of his life, that's fair enough. Maybe he doesn't want the family of that person to be in the spotlight during a difficult time for them, which you can guarentee would be the case if he talked about it. The papers would be running stories and no doubt it would bring unwanted attention.

Touce (accent ecoute)

I wanted to say he should take English lessons from the humble one, but thought better of it

He isn't the most garrulous of players. He's never going to be like Federer or Djokovic in post-match interviews. He always comes across as rather nervous and shy. Look how often he touches his face, neck and hair when answering a question. Plus he was caught up in the emotion of reaching his first Wimbledon final. He had tears in his eyes just following match point and I think he had difficulty expressing himself fully because of this when going into an immediate presser.

When asked about the fingers raised to the sky gesture he's been making after each match, he just said it was a private matter and didn't want to elaborate any further which was a perfectly reasonable response.

Definitely not the bastion of confidence and arrogance off court as the other 3.

I'm sure some Portuguese footballer does this.

I think he is very honest and gracious off the court, on the court he is a head case but he is Scottish, its part of it

I felt uncomfortable watching it. It like he's dead inside. Come on man, you just got into the finals! Show some kind of enthusiasm! Is he really that dull and boring?
