His speech after his Wimbledon Final loss to the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, was absolutely emotional. I have become an Andy Murray fan.
I'm sure many of us have become his fans after that speech. Let's cheer him on at the 2012 US Open and onwards until he wins his maiden slam! If Roger Federer believes Andy Murray can win at least 1 slam, we should believe as well. Discuss anything Murray needs to improve (e.g. 2nd serve), what him and Lendl can come up with in terms of tactics against the Big 3 and so forth.

I really hope he win the US Open 2012.
Had fun seeing Federer steal the prize. Top3 won a slam each...now the fourth ranked players needs to even the gap.

2003 maybe? I hope Andy makes it so 2012 is somewhat similar and wins in NY. He has gone to NY a bit worn out in the past, lets see what he can do this year.

It's like, I feel that he will win one. But I felt that way after US Open '08... then came Australian Open '10... ok... whatever... two losses, big deal.
...then came Australian Open '11... Here we go... ...then came Australian Open '12, losing another heart breaker... and now of course Wimby '12, probably his most crushing defeat (though the second best he's played after the AO2012 semi against Djoker). This guy needs a break. He needs a bit of a luck and to play lights out to win his first slam. It wouldn't hurt if Nadal lost early either.

Remember Phil Mickelson. some said he is a loser and a choker that will never win a major as long as Tiger is around. and yet once he won that one, he goes on to wins and wins. at least til he got fat.

I have to say that I am a Murray fan more than ever. He expressed emotion and humanized himself to me. I could never get past his aloof exterior until now. I can't imagine the pressure he must of felt through this Wimbledon and I am gutted for him. I hope he wins many grand slams.
I always liked Roger, still do, but he seems to have the same acceptance speech all the time, about how 'incredible' and 'amazing' he, his records, and his career are. I thought it patronizing and not flattering when he said Murray will win 'at least one grand slam'. I think Roger is often gracious, but at the same time he seems to get arrogant(perhaps unintentionally). |

I used to Hate Murray , but the Kid won me over , anyone who feels that much about Winning the slam deserves another shot - so much better class than DjokoB1tch , I used to see him as no-threat opponent to Fed/Rafa but he got me worried in the 1st two sets , only when Fed rose to the occasion was he able to clinch that marginal break - Murray has heart , he will win Multiple Slams - I'm adding him to my very exclusive Fed/Rafa list just because he played so well. I wish him all the best in coming slams - don't forget his best surface (hard) USO is right-ahead.

As Mainad points out, he also got very emotional after a Davis Cup tie last year when talking about his fans. It's tough, Murray and the fans all want the same thing, when you have to beat a combination of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic for it, well you could say it's one of the toughest challenges tennis has known. Make it or not, his fans love him just the same. Quote:
Federer provides such a test of your game that it can look ugly at times, Murray really isn't as bad a player, he's a very good one in fact. I suppose when you're in an era of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, it's sometimes hard to remember that |

I always think there's a bit of an edge for Fed where Murray is concerned. Fed hates to lose and he was never much amused about the fact that Murray had, until now, a positive H2H against him (8-7 before this final). Murray in the past cockily boasted that he was going to beat Fed at a WTF match and he did making it 4 match wins on the trot. I don't think Roger ever forgets these things and there's always a bit of satisfaction for him whenever he can school Murray in another GS final and then make a few throwaway condescending comments about him. All done in the best possible taste of course!

Anyways, I've noticed how dangerous Andy's forehand is at times. And his net approaches were vintage in the final.

-Murray's gonna win atleast one major. -That he(Fed) hopes Murray will win atleast one major -That Murray's consistency and hard work over the years shows his love for the game They also had a nice hug afterwards I think sometimes people expect too much from players in regarding them being some role models off court while the reality is that they're mostly jock types, they're great tennis players but that's about it, don't expect them to give some great meaningful speeches or something (especially after winning Wimbledon which is the holy grail of tennis basically). I liked to see Murray show so much emotion but other than that I never cared much for slam award ceremonies, interviews (unless it was Safin or Goran giving them because they were hilarious) and such stuff. |

Have been a fan since he won junior USO. But even more so now after showing that he could play like he belonged in a slam final. I hope and believe that will take this painful defeat, learn from it and win multiple slams.

Well, there's a good sign of him improving as he took 1 set off Fed for once in the final.
