To be honest with you, it doesn't really matter to me. well, I understand you Fed fans want Fed to break that last record ... it's all good.

we'll see. I still don't think it's going to happen.
It doesn't really matter to me either, but he's obviously on a roll, so yeah, I'd like him to make it (but won't be bothered if he doesn't). Fact is, he's really getting close, so both Djokovic and Nadal will have to pick up their game if they want to remain ahead of him.

Slams may be the most prestigious events in tennis, but they do not determine rankings. Neither does sentiment. In terms of ranking points, a slam win can be compromised by two Masters 1000 wins, 4 500 series wins, etc. So, Roger getting to No. 1 is a mathematical possibility. And there were periods of time in 2010 when Djokovic was ranked above Federer, despite Federer having won the AO that year and Novak not having won a slam in two years. Nadal also fell below Murray in 2009, depsite having won the AO that year and Murray never winning a slam in his career.

Nope, he'd probably be copiously bashed by the more, ahem, vocal of Fed fans should this happen. Now, can you promise the Nadal fans won't do the same should Federer regain the top spot without winning a slam?

Thought not...

I voted with my heart because I want it to happen yet my mind is telling me the chances of it really happening are quite slim.

Roger is already talking of how he is not feeling so hot and having to take anti-inflammatories.

Yes he will, although he reclaimed the #1 ranking before the 2012 US Open (at the end of 2012 Wimbledon) !

Allez Rogi !
