Worm Vibe Damp with 18 main string bed

I have a Head LiquidMetal OS with an 18x19 string bed. I really don't like the standard vibration dampeners, especially with 18 mains, because they don't seem to work at all. I have this Wilson Dampener from wal mart and it works really well but it bothers me because it pushes the strings out a bit and looks bent up and crappy.

I can live with the look of it if need be but I'd like to know if there are any dampeners like this but made for an 18 main string bed. When I had this dampener on my old racquet (16 mains) it was more stretched out and not pushed together like it is on this one.

Dampeners only reduce the higher frequencies from the ball striking the string bed. The lower frequencies come thru the frame. Having said that, look at the Prince Worms.

BTW, I just use ordinary rubber cable grommets and they work fine. Just make sure that they are larger than the spacing on the central mains.

It's more the ping reduction than anything else. The standard two string dampeners don't do anything in my experience but I love the worms. I looked at the prince silencer and I have read good reviews. I can't figure out how I would put it on though. Looks like you have to do it while stringing with those circle ends? Like you have to thread the strings through there which is just silly.

I really like the Gamma Shockbuster. Have you tried it?

The best dampener to my point of view, and far from the others is the Tecnifibre (2$50) ! Even if it's only on two strings, it's still the best.

The shockbuster is a good option if you like the worm dampener. The prince silencer is good, too. That one, however needs to be installed during stringing.

I have not tried the shockbuster so I'll have to look into that. I may get a silencer for the backup that's coming in since it needs to be strung anyways. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Just so you know
The Silencer is just pressed in between the strings on an already strung racket. You depress the main string and slide under. It locks in place and thus never "flies out" or comes "unhooked" like the Gamma shockbuster.

The Prince is the best of this type in my opinion. Another thread you can search all about silencers shows the install etc.

Interesting.... based on the look I just assumed it needed to be installed during stringing.

I love the Prince Silencer. I initially try to put it on after the string job. It's very difficult especially if you string at high tension(58lbs). I put them in during the string job now and it's very very easy. I can't go back to the other dampers now.
