Thumbs down How pathetic is Der Deutsche Tennis Bund?

Seriously.

Tommy Haas could have made SFs in London with a favourable draw.

Well, Angel Merkel is all about cutting expenses, isn't she? Semi-final is not enough.

I bet she wouldn't dare to publically axe Tommy.

the DTB didn't make the dicision (merkel didn't either). the nomination for the games is done by the DOSB which is an association for the olympic games. and they had certain criteria (world ranking) which haas didn't match at this time. still sad that he misses the games of course. he would have better chances than mayer or kohlschreiber on grass.

Are you telling me that the DTB couldn't (if they wanted to) put forward a proposal to take him along? It's nuts any way you look at it. Horrible snub.

So much Haas luv. Poor Wimbledon quarterfinalist / ranked inside top 25 Mayer gets none. Kohlschreiber deserved a spot and eventually got it, fortune for him at least.

"Lucky"? I think not. The guy was ranked #2 and has been in numerous Slam semis. Haas also beat Djokovic twice in a row in Halle and Wimbledon in '09.

He should have won that final in Hamburg being up a break in each set.

Mayer(twice), Kohlscreiber both QF at Wimbledon, Haas a former semifinalist at Wimbledon and 2 time Halle champion wins over Djokovic and Federer.

How does Kohlscreiber make it in and not Mayer who is higher ranked?

ITF could have give a Wildcard into the draw for Haas like they did for the way lower ranked players than Haas.

Meanwhile the unwanted veteran is taking care of business down in Washington.

6-4, 6-2 vs M. Russel

I don't understand anything about it. Every country can send 4 singles and 2 doubles players to the Games provided that they are in Top 50. Meyer's ranked 22, Haas - 36. Both are eligible. Are you sure it's not the deision of the German tennis federation?

Apparently the German Olympic Committee have the final say and clearly they don't know jack about tennis.

What's their problem? If a player is eligible, why should the national olympic committee stall him? Decided to save some money? They cou'd've declared their insolvency and ask fans to provide financial aid. There would've been enough ladies gladly helping Tommy out of this humiliating situation.
