Whatever the problem, the world's still a better placed viewed from the beer garden.

And I've still only played tennis outdoors once this year, so bring on the sun! (plus a couple of hitting partners willing to venture outside...)

Not according to The Guardian it isn't.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...ondon-olympics

Estimates vary, as I said, but one thing is for sure: in this very difficult time, it is costing an unbelievably vast sum.

A little side-issue too is, do people outside of London (especially up North) feel this is 'their' games?

I live a few miles away from the sailing venue, what i have noticed is the massive traffic chaos they've caused upgrading "our" roads that link between the motorway from Southampton way to weymouth.I could of done without them shutting major roads at 6pm for the last year or delaying everyone so a 30 min drive to Southampton general took 90 mins........The fact that the natural beauty spots and car parks have been sealed off so you can't see the sea should anyone glimpse a sail boat doing something for free, what's not to like so far?
I'm excited, we have paralympic tennis tickets, figured it's not likely to come back anytime soon but i dread trying to get around here when the boat people are here in force!

Thinking about it we could probably buy head racquet division for that couldn't we? Then there could be a little shop with a racquetaholic room through a secret wood panneled door that had a password, in the Austrian Alps with a court where we could go test and oh my mind is off and running away now........

Does anyone over the age of 35 still regularly play open (as opposed to age restricted) LTA competitions at 8.2 and above, and have over a 50% winning ratio? If so, roughly what's your winning ratio?

I agree that this sort of thing is some way excessive.

Hmm.. Nothing for almost 48hrs! How's everyone?

Still recovering from 4hrs of tennis on Monday. In the middle of relocation, lack of energy is doing me no good.

Good news, have scored some Olympic Tennis tickets (not that I believe that tennis should be an Olympic sport).

Bad news, man flu has reared its ugly head!

24 new HD Olympic channels turned up on the telly today, so it'll be a disgrace if they're not!

Wheelchair tennis will be part of the Channel 4 coverage of the Paralympic Games, I believe it is to be the 5th sport on their list of total airtime coverage, so should be plenty to see!

Right, man flu can jog on (wifey thinks I have developed tourettes as my plan has been to swear at it constantly until it goes), but it's the start of the Paralympic Test Event today (think they've called it the Olympics or something like that) and I for one, cannot wait!!!

Cheers

Whilst I'm excited about the Olympics and look forward to spending the next two weeks watching it, I'm already getting annoyed by the bunch of knowledgeless f*ckwits that are presenting/commentating.

This opening ceremony seems like a load of well choreographed but surreal tripe.
