Yes, people give a sh!t about it...because we (GB) won a Gold. That's reason enough surely

Awesome performance from Wiggo, Glover and Stanning to win their Golds and Jamieson, Froome and the mens 8 for their medals, great stuff from all!

But when those rowers go to their next event and win that it'll be back to no one caring.

^^^some people will (me for instance). But does it really matter? Some will continue to care, some might take up rowing some might not watch another rowing race until 2016, but ultimately people taking pride in the incredible achievements of their country men and women is hardly a bad thing right?!

These medal winning performances inspire people.........don't you see that? I'ts kind of what it's all about, regardless of the sport.

Just because you don't hear about these "smaller" sports all of the time doesn't mean no-one cares. Actually the sports I don't really give a sh!t about in the Olympics are Tennis and Football. Neither should be Olympic events IMO.

I agree. From the rowers and cyclists to the guys in the canoes and the man who shot the clays, brilliant athletes who don't always earn a fortune are showing how good we can be at a whole range of sports. They are mostly articulate and modest and are almost always inspiring. The women in particular are nice looking, intelligent, articulate, modest and sometimes brilliant. All power to them. They deserve their success and with any luck they will inspire millions of us to follow their example in sport and life.

They played the first match on Centre at Wimbledon today with the roof on, which was a good idea considering the weather. Then they spend loads of time opening it for the next match, only for it to rain again. Why not keep it closed the whole time and make sure all the matches scheduled get done and maybe add another one on at the end of the day?
You're just being traditionally British, embrace the win, be proud that people dedicate their lives to a goal and in some cases are getting it!

Certainly shouldn't be any ATP points on offer at the olympics, that's just wrong.

Another example Jaz...I took a couple of our Junior Wheelies over to Victoria Park to the BT London Live Site yesterday to do a wheelchair tennis demo.

Some of the kids there had never even considered that you could play tennis like that, so we let them try it out and hit some balls with the Junior World Champion. Those kids were not only inspired by the wheelies, but they were inspired to play tennis full stop, some of whom never had.

Maybe some people who saw the rowing or canoeing or whatever will be inspired to do something sporty, it doesn't matter what. The simple fact that they are inspired is what counts!

No Cheer Up and Cheer On OurGreatestTeam!

P.S. You can see some pics from BT London Live Tennis here...http://www.lta.org.uk/Tennis-Foundat...20Site%202012/

Goosebump moment tonight. I watched the swimming on one of the dedicated channels, which means you get to see whole medal ceremonies rather than cut aways to Lineker or Balding. A little deflated that Becky missed the gold, but the reception she got when she stepped on the podium was awesome. They then have to parade around the pool to have photos taken, and the crowd started cheering even louder and chanting her name.

Four years ago, she showed how good she is. Since then, she's shown what it means to be part of Team GB, to support your teammates, and to be, well, perfectly lovely to boot. Although winning a bronze is nothing to be sniffed at, she must have been disappointed, and it was frankly fantastic to see the response from the crowd. I don't really buy in to the whole 'sporting losers' philosophy, but there really *is* more to sport than just winning.

OMFG! I am quite literally speechless! What an incredible performance by TeamGB across the board! 6 Golds and a Silver today, Andy and Laura with the chances of 2 more Golds tomorrow, Gold medal races in 2 sailing events, Louis Smith in the pommel and Ohorughu in the 400 final! Best.Weekend.Ever!

Even Jaz must have raised a smile!

Cheers

Nope. At the end of the day, well done to the athletes, the medals are vindication of their hard work. But it's nothing for me to get excited about.
