My memory can be bad.When that funny story about Kodes and Vines started, I just happened to recall that in the 1981 US Open, Lendl defeated Vines ( should be his grandson, I think), who, at that time, was one of the best US juniors.I just read a big repport on Tennis Magazine concerning the 1981 Open and Lendl and focusing on his match against Vines.I think it mentioned something to the effect that also Vines ancestors came from then Czeckoslovakia, or something to that effect.

I maybe wrong.But it is curious that I had just that flash so many years later.Maybe guys like Krossero or Mustard can work it out.

looks like Vines ancestors were from the U.S. at least going back a few generations
