No honest. Something WAS supposed to happen. Still probably will, just taking a tad longer than expected.

Drinks for everyone to make up for my tease......

Sorry....don't be upset with me

Oh dearest Senti, ILC Would never do that to the wobderful peeps at the Bistro. I should never have teased, but that "I know something they don't know" got the better part of me. Shame on me.

In Russia, herring on rye bread is often a very basic dish, served as an appetizer with many other dishes. There are many good Russian recipes for salads with pickled herring.

I would recommend the basic Danish smørrebrød, which is a buttered dark rye single piece of bread, pickled herrings (not too much), red onions, and fresh dill. Other ingredients, like capers, are often added. In Denmark, this is usually served with with other kinds of smørrebrød.

On its own, it might be a little dull, depending on the quality and freshness of the pickled herring. Using a little imagination is a good thing here.

Another option is to go the Midsommar route. I like to have small potatoes with sour cream and chives, and a Russian-style beetroot salad (not a traditional part of the meal, of course) with pickled herring.

I notice the last Danish football hooligan leave the Bistro. She was using the lemur as a pillow. He is pretty angry.
Being the quoted is the only post i have read in this thread (legendary thread by post count) it is clear to me if i start from the beginning i will not leave my 'puter (yes ok, it's a mac) for days. And my family is not tolerant of such behavior.

May I simply jump in as a stranger? Are you tolerant of this behavior? I like you folks based solely on that one post. No ****. And not in a 'flattery will get you...' sort of thing.

Thanks in advance.

Do check the first page to know the guidelines/intent of this thread. Basically a friendly thread, no fights, and iirc, no spoilers. Lots of food and drink on the house

Everyone is welcome at the Bistro. Just don't look up at the ceiling fan; you do not want to know what is going on up there. I have never heard of the Cackalacky South. Based on the term, it sounds like an interesting place.

Let's not tell him about the lemurs and the pirates. Also no mention of polar bears, or he'll run for his life

Welcome wrxinsc. Once you've passed the Komrade Bulgakov initiation right of passage, you're good to go!

The lemur is usually in charge of the initiations. I did volunteer for Maria Kirilenko's initiation.

Since it is important that nobody pulls a muscle at the Bistro, I had her demonstrate her flexibility for safety reasons.

I then gave Maria her test. She had to point to her name out of a choice of two.

She passed the test! Maria was allowed into the Bistro and can come in anytime she wants.

How did Dedans acquire a photo of my breakfast?

Welcome, welcome to Wrxinsc! That's quite a mouthful. We'll have to have on of our clever Bistro peeps give you a proper Bistro nick. Don't worry about the pirate and lemur...they have had their shots. Allow me to clean off a barstool for you...have a seat!

Cocktails on ILC!!!!!

smart girl - the Maria.

and after very carefully studying those pictures of her preceding her test documentation; I think I will stay around awhile.

Many thanks for the fine initiation - even if absent of the ghost creature's ceremony.
