I can't imagine. I can eat blue and feta. But I couldn't go for anything stronger than that.

I kept mixing up the MD and nova teams. Ironically I was using my MD championship towel in my match against the Baltimore team (the MD champions!). And, I'd like to announce, I broke a string! It was a Fh in my fourth match. Must be the massive topspin I was hitting.

i prefer baja fresh to chipotle. but i think most people prefer chipotle. does anyone have the definitive answer to which is better and why?

stringers of twmac -
i'm getting a 15 pound discrepancy between what my drop-weight machine says and what a pitch-based tension tester says i strung at 60 and i'm getting 44.8 or something based on the tension tester. wtf? |

Have you tested the calibration on the drop weight? Also Ive noticed on the testers, their readings can vary depending on string type....I would measure against the previous and future string jobs to confirm readings. hope this helps

did u measure right away? I heard we can always expect an average of 15 to 25% tension drop after the first 24hrs and after the first 15 min of play. This depends on experience, type of machine, temperature, etc. Important part is to get consistency on your machine so you can adjust your tension accordingly.

schap and CB, i tested right after i strung but i have never tested w/ this particular device before.
another thing i was thinking - the actual clamp that the frame rests on is on a sliding X axis and i'm wondering if that will make a difference. |

Chipotle is aiight. It depends if you want to house down mexican food.
Chik fila basically wants all homosexuals and lesbians to die. As a man who had an intimate relationship with a lesbian I cannont support such a stance. If you dont think they should get married fine. But wanting them to die by closing on Sundays. I just cant support that stance. Plus Chik Fila is vastly overrated. Go with Chipotle. Even though Qdoba is better. You can check the calibration of the Drop weight, but if you are simply stringnin for yourself it aint a big deal. The tension will drop over time. But if the weight says 60 and its closer to 50 just move the weight to 65 or something if you want it tighter. As long as the weight is in the same spot and you get the weight to within .000025 degrees of the perfect horizontal plane and wait the same amount of tie between clamping it should be the same. If you want to know for sure get a scale and see it its pulling close to what the bar says. If its a sticker with numbers simply take the sticker off and move it. If its etched on like maybe mark it with a sharpie on what the actual weight is.

Another weird thing.. The strings I put on this morning snapped while just sitting there while I went to shower. i tied my mains off at 6T and crosses at 5t and both mains 5 and 6 (on that side) snapped at the point where the knot was. Never had that happen before.

which knot do you tie? parnell or double hitch? do you use a clamp to tie? i like to tie my knots at exactly 57lbs so it's inline with my string bed. i train by pulling 57lb weights daily so i know exactly how much tension there should be..

I normally tie Parnell but I did double HH this time. I have read to pull extra tension on the strings just before the knots, is this BS? I don't remember if I did that or not when I would string back in high school.
I'm not sure how you intend "do you use a clamp to tie" to mean.. I clamp off the string at the inside of the frame and then tie w/ the slack part as the bitter end and the string as the standing end.. I use a starting clamp to start crosses but I don't use it in my mains at all. |

I dont pull the last pull at extra tension. The main is the do the same thing for every string job. If you set 2lbs extra on the last pulls before knots, then do it everytime. I dont go though the hassle of changing tension for 4 pulls. I just make my knot tight and snug and go with it. Am I losing some tension? maybe, but as I honetly dont think it is going to affect the stringbed one way or another.

try and prestretch as well. especially if you are using a multi. You'll get some additional tension lost if you don't. Sometimes, when I do a more flexier multi, I usually leave it unwound for an hour for the string to relax. Otherwise, look at your gripper and clamps as well. When was the last time you've cleaned it? Could be slipping. With my dropweight, I clean every 4th job.
Some of that grain alochol lying in your cabinet or rubbing on a shoe lace does a great job. Then I used gun oil to lube the bottom of my fixed clamps.
