WHERE in SF?
SF State has 18 courts, usually most players have partners, but some pretty good 3.5-4.0 players hit the wall or hang around.
CCSF has at least 10, but pickup there is tougher, as it's on the wrong side of the tracks.
GoldenGatePark is the best, 22 courts, but you gotta pay like $4 to play 1.5 hours. Weekdays 10-5, but if high school tennis season is in, only till 2.
Marina at Buchanan and NorthPt. has 4.5 doubles on most weekends.
Dolores Park also.
JuliusKahn, NorthBeach, AltaPlaza has good 4.0 doubles most weekends.
GoldenGateway, CalClub, and SFTennis&Racket are private, are tennis clubs.
Clarendon has the backboard set about 40' from the baseline .

What area is the Conservatory and what district do you live in?
I"m out in SanPablo, so probably will beg out. About 24 mile drive into center of town, my van get's 10 mpg and I need afternoons for windsurfing, although I could sail Crissy or Stick.
I'm not much on BART, having taken Muni in SF for 34 years.

Not many public courts near 8th and Market.
Nearest might be Turk and Buchanan, where you might get shot at or harassed by our brothers. Or at least get your car checked out. That playground is fine for rec softball, where 40 guys show up, but for two guys in tennis, maybe not the smartest move.
Private clubs at 5th & Brannan, foot of Market, and Bush & Steiner, but they won't let you in without a member partner.
GoldenGatePark is your call.

Just shoot you an email. Are you attending the SF Conservatory of Music? If you are then you are in my neighborhood.

Is that the one on Market and Guerrero, or Hayes?
Then there's two courts at 19th and Valencia, the alley between V and Mission. One court at Castro and 18th, other side of the gay section.
16th and Dolores, the best chance for pickup tennis at the 4.0 levels.

Mission Playground is on 19th Street and Linda Street (near Valencia and 19th St.) 2 hard courts recently resurfaced.

Use this link (not always accurate!)
