If it's priced like other lux strings... no thanks for me.

The playtesters referenced playability duration in number of weeks. It'd be really helpful to know how many hours they play each week.

Let me put this into perspective for you. Another guy who posts on here plays on my school's club team. Since I string for him, he offered me 3 or 4 sets of 4G for free since he hated it. I turned them down just as fast. Now, I am not saying the string is awful. I'm not saying that at all. It doesn't do anything spectacular that any other string does. Scorpion has more control, Iontec has more feel, many MANY have more power, even more have more spin and everything from WC and Signum Pro has better tension stability. Within Lux, ALU is a far superior string and I am not even a fan of it. I can easily recognize, however, why people like ALU. It feels like nothing else. 4G just feels fairly generic. |

It really wouldn't surprise me Fedace, if you had created that account, given your history of posting misinformation on these boards. Bit of a coincidence also that that Instagram account was created 5 hours ago, and your post linking to that photo and that newly created Instagram account was also made exactly 5 hours ago as well...... And not least because the person going under the username 'wilsontennis' can't seem to spell or write properly: "Check our online retailers to our purchase now!" And why would 'wilsontennis' use a picture of an old tennis bag rather than the official Wilson logo? And why would Serena Williams suddenly switch to 4G when she's using gut since forever and a day? This string was designed for gut/poly, so I'm actually disappointed that the reviewers all used full poly. Doesn't tell me anything about the string as I would use it. Specifically, I'd want to know how gut/4G compares to gut/ALU.

I play tested 4G and instructions from TW were to use it either as a full bed or as a hybrid. If it were designed for use as a hybrid only, I am fairly sure TW would have made mention of that.

Lot of pros I strung for at cincy were using it:
Nishikori, dimitrov, etc. Also, both of the Williams sisters are using it. Both of the aforementioned told me they loved the comfort, spin and control. I was able to get a few sets, so look forward to testing it out.

I'm testing this string now in a hybrid with tonic gut in the mains. It felt really good the first time I hit with it, nice pop and very good control with good spin. 2nd time there was a noticeble tension drop. Stringbed felt much softer and more powerful. Spin was still good but control. My usual setup of gut/bhb7 or gut/b5e holds tension much better after 3 weeks than the gut/4g setup. We'll see where this goes from here...

^ So basically, Luxilon have never said that at all, and its just your personal view that it should be used in a hybrid.
Glad we're clear on that now. |

So far, both Nishikori and S. Williams are using 4G with Wilson natural gut. Given how miserable playtesters found the 4G to play in full bed, I think there's another purpose for 4G, and it's not full bed. So yes, it's my personal view that 4G should be used in a hybrid. And Nishikori and S Williams seem to agree with me. |

So yes, as Torres said, there is no manufacturer's claim that their product works in a superior manner when used in a hybrid. The fact that their pro players are doing such means nothing to the average string consumer. They will buy it and use it as all other Lux polys are marketed: as a poly, not a cross. |
