Give Novak a break. The guy was clearly hurt. He's a great player and really fought hard to level that match and take it to 5. He just ran out of gas at the end.

For once an MTO before an opponents serve didn't bother me too much. Novak was clearly physically broken by that point, and Murray had far too much momentum not to take the match by that point.
And more importantly he had the crowd!

There was no doubt that the guy was hurting. I don't condone nor excuse what he did though.

Mr.jamesfakefan's hatred for Djokovic is well known.
Why bother creating a new thread? How do you know what Pain he had to go through? Before slinging Mud, atleast think once. Let me tell you this.... when Djoker went for lob to get one of the breaks back in 2nd set, Murray held to his thigh and limped slightly. May I ask you whether the usual Andy 'Drama Queen' Murray appeared from nowhere? you don't know... he might have had a slight discomfort like Djoker had towards the end. Seriously .... dude get a life! |

JBF#1 always had it in for Novak. Sure, I don't condone Novak asking an MTO at that particular point of the match but that hardly makes him the worst sportsman ever. Not to mention that from what I've seen Novak concedes points (when he knows the umpire is wrong) to his opponents more often than other top pros and he also doesn't act like his whole family died or something whenever he loses a big tennis match but instead warmly congratulates the opponent, he's one of the best "losers" in tennis I've ever seen, especially among top stars. Again, he's far from perfect, but worst sportsman ever? What a load of crap. |

They can give the Sportman of the Year to someone who likes that kind of stuff. When you are on the verge of losing your 3rd straight GS Final...........you have to pull all stops...... If what he tried was strictly Gamemanship......it was worth the effort. Had he pulled it off.....Im sure he wouldnt have cared how it came off.... |

I love it. People know I'm right, so they have to resort to taking pot shots at me. It's great being a heel.

No doubt this was gamesmanship on Nole's part. It's hard to respect this type of tactic, especially when it was done.
I will say, I would have had less problems with what Nole did if he had taken the MTO earlier in the set. |

If a medical timeout was granted, obviously the trainer determined that the injury WAS NOT cramping, and was a pull or tear or some other kind of condition, since the rules do not allow a medical timeout for cramping.

How exactly does a trainer diagnose a tear in 60 seconds?

At least he wasn't faking this time. It looked like he was really hurting.

He looked like he always looks to me to be honest. He looked way more dead in the AO final and played just fine.

Why wasn't it likely he was cramping? How does the trainer know that?
