Federer's prime was pretty weak in terms of great players but there was good depth 5-15, this era has a strong top 4 but after that it's all down hill from there.

The part in bold < That is all it takes to deprive a person from winning several Grandslams and therefore that is the deciding factor for the top guys. Not for one minute saying Federer would not be sitting easily on double figures by now .... but ..........
