Supergrass:

One of Britain's most controversial informants, working inside a loyalist terror group, has appeared in court on Tuesday at the opening of a so-called "supergrass" trial.

Mark Haddock stood in the dock at Belfast's Laganside court, flanked by prison officers at the start of the trial which is expected to last 14 weeks.

The one-time police informer for RUC's Special Branch will be placed in protective custody in prison for the duration of the case. It is alleged that while working for Special Branch, Haddock was committing crimes up to and including murder.

He apeared along with 13 other men accused of murder, intimidation and membership of the illegal Ulster Volunteer Force.

Haddock spoke to confirm his name at the opening of the non-jury trial. It will focus on the activities of the Mount Vernon UVF, a loyalist gang responsible for up to 11 murders in north Belfast.

Daniel Komen, the only man to run 2 miles in under 8 minutes (2 back-to-back 4 minute miles) in 7:58. He did this 2 times.

Natalia Vodianova ran 2 miles in under 8 minutes (2 back-to-back sub-4-minute miles) in 7:57. She did this 3 times.

Diamond League - Brussels - WR in hurdles

The American Aries Merritt, who seemed to be on a row of consistent 12.92s and 12.93s in the past weeks set the evening alight by knocking off a serious margin of the world record: he ran an astonishing 12.80, a fabulous world record added to the crown of the Memorial. Merritt also earned the Diamond league. Another American Jason Richardson claimed second in 13.05, the Jamaican Hansle Parchment third in 13.14.

In the 800m Francine Nyonsaba was a surprise winner in 1:56.59, a national record for Burundi. She beat the Kenyan Pamela Jelimo, 1:57.24, who still won the Diamond league, and the Russian Mariya Savinova, 1:59.05.

With the appearance of Usain Bolt, the crowds went really wild again. He claimed the 100m in 9.86 and takes the Diamond home to Jamaica. Two other Jamaicans, Nesta Carter (9.96) and Kernar Bailey Cole (9.97) completed the top three. In the subsequent 200m there was no stopping Yohan Blake, who won the event in 19.54, ahead of his compatriot Jason Young in 19.92 and the French Christophe Lemaitre in 20.17.

I get headaches due to loud sounds, esp little kids screaming. Does anyone know if this condition has a name, so i can search for some remedies.

My nephew visited on Monday, and gave me a splitting headache. I had to watch the entire USO final with a headache and an icepack on head (did not help) from 2 AM to 7 AM.

Bright lights and loud sounds trigger off these headaches and this has been since childhood.

If you like beetroots, you might want to give borscht a try.

One possibility is a migraine headache.

Migraine headache triggers

Whatever the exact mechanism of the headaches, a number of things may trigger them. Common migraine triggers include:

Stress
Stress at work or home can instigate migraines.

Sensory stimuli
Bright lights and sun glare can induce migraines, as can loud sounds. Unusual smells — including pleasant scents, such as perfume, and unpleasant odors, such as paint thinner and secondhand smoke — can also trigger migraines.

This is called Mr. Wilson's Syndrome. The best cure is to avoid living near pesky young people with blond hair and freckles. Move very far away if said child answers to the name "Dennis"!

You are right, paint fumes, sun glare, loud sounds etc all trigger this thing, and its since childhood. If i talk loudly also it gets triggered.

Will check up more on this.

Thanks for the name, "Mr Wilson's Syndrome", luckily no kids around. We did once refer to the nephew as Dennis the Me*ace behind his back.

I remember listening to some stuff from "Yes" as a kid that was instrumental. Do you recall anything, Tom? Whatever i found on YT (looked a few years back) were songs/vocal stuff.

edit: I am listening to Starship Trooper but this isn't it. I recall a lot of guitaring and it did have a spacy kind of feel to it. But this song has too much singing in it.

"Mood For A Day" on "Fragile" is a Steve Howe guitar instrumental. Hope that is the one!

I am hearing that now. It was more of an electic or electronic guitar. Sharp, twangy, metallic sounds. (i just hope i don't have the band wrong). Were there any albums named "Yes - I" and "Yes - II" (numbers one and two, the discography on Wiki does not list such names). I've heard a bunch of stuff on YT and none of it is what i remember.

Senti, you got me...from the early 70's, electric guitar instrumental artists ranged from Jeff Beck, The Allman Brothers Band, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Santana, Focus, Yes, Jimi Hendrix...good luck! Yes never numbered their albums...maybe you're thinking of Chicago's Terry Kath...he had an acid rock feel to his guitar work on their first albums, which are numbered Roman style from Chicago II on...the first was called Chicago Transit Authority before they were ordered to cease and desist from using that name by the City of Chicago and their lawyers.
