According to Friend of the Court, the burger-fiend is obligated to bring back to his opponent one of everything he is eating/drinking and play lefty the rest of the match.

Not sure a burger is the best snack during a tennis game. it must've been annoying for the OP's friend, but at the same time I cant possibly see how eating a burger couldve benefited his opponent.

On another note, one of the worst beatdowns I ever recieved on a tennis court was from a former (then current) #1 player on a division 1 team. The guy shows up to our (open-level) tournament with a single racquet in his left hand, and a shawarma sandwich (a Lebanese-style wrap with chicken and garlic sauce - basically the worst thing ever to eat before a match) in his right hand. The match lasted 40 minutes. I ended up getting 1 game off him.

I think that is fair, no.

Great story. Would have been a better story if he'd beaten you while holding the sandwich though... or is that against the rules?

Sad to say he could probably beat me using the sandwich.

Haha, nice one.

There's this middle-aged guy who shows up at the basketball courts in khakis, plaid button-down shirt, and running shoes. He beats the crap outta everybody. Was probably a college player back in the day. When he first showed up, no one picked him. Now everyone wants him on their team...

It's insane how good some people are at sports.

Damn the arrogance there is just ridiculous. Oh I'll just show up with only a single racket and a sandwich...

I really hate people like that.

actually he was a cool guy. after that sometimes I started showing up with casual hitting sessions with just a racket and a can of balls. its actually kind of a relief not carrying a big bag around all the time.

then again if he had popped a string, I wonder what wouldve happened.

Should packed up your bags, filled in the score sheet as a default and then submitted it and, most importantly, let them know the court was now free for the next match.

Because you have won the match by almost every 'normal' league or tournament protocol(s) on the matter which are generally accepted around the world.

The question should be: why should you keep playing?

Friend of mine used to show up at A/Open tournies around SanFrancisco with one racket, no cover, can of balls, Levi's, no shorts, and just a tan t shirt, no jacket.
He was a NorCal top 5 in the A division.
He said he actually hitchhiked to Sacramento for the Open there, about 70 miles, in that outfit.

I know a guy sorta like that. He's kinda a "drifter". The guy shows up in jeans and a tshirt, slippers, rides a moped and smokes like a chimney.

He does have a good "rig" though, but something tells me he has more than rackets in there, likely everything he owns haha.

This guy is a very solid player, he's just old and (maybe) homeless, im not sure.
