Default The reason why so many posters try to harm others rather than help them.

It's easier for them to destroy/harm than to build/help.

I'm all for helping other people (to the extent I can, as I'm not great). But does it really help anyone to make a post like:

Quote:
Inside each of us, there is an upper body engine and a lower body clock engine and they are using separate types of energy flows. The upper engine controls our unit turns. The unit turn determines how much we coil, our power developed, and how fast we can unleash each shot. The lower body clock controls our foot work and court coverage. There is also both a conscious, and a subconscious body clock/engine. These “clocks” control our timing mechanisms and the different “engines” in our bodies. They require coordinated rhythm and timing to create dominant play. The upper clock has to remain super relaxed for the most speed of coil possible, and the lower clock is the opposite: Samuari stiff and choppy quick.
It’s the Kuerten drunken monkey upper body, super loose, versus the Bruce Lee lower body, stiff, wide stance, on bent knees, on the balls of your feet, tense and tightened shins, and choppy/fast movements and short loading steps.
How am I supposed to work on that? I'm a simple person. Give me one or two concrete things to work on at a time. You know, wax on, wax off, rather than all the philosophy stuff.

maybe bashing other people boosts their ego more than constructive posts...

Still there are quite a few guys with good posts here. even LeeD.

In the other sections I also mostly spam around but here I try to post helpfull stuff

I wouldn't seek advice on a public forum, in which I may be talking to a dog or my grandma who just learned how to use a computer.

I would talk to somebody who actually hit that shot better than I do, or a coach.

One guy's drivel might be another's genius. A lot probably depends on the reader's mood. Kiteboard regularly makes a great effort, seems to have plenty of genius, and some of it gets through to me. I still recall and have been helped by his line from awhile back, "Eat your volleys." Now if I can somehow combine his "Kuerten drunken monkey, super loose upper" with "Bruce Lee chopchop lower" I might make more progress.

I need help on my volleying. What is the "eat your volleys" approach?

You can do both. You can get pointers from here and then go talk to some other people.

In fact, it is much easier (and free) to do it here than go around from club to club looking for the guy with that better shot and hoping he will talk to you.

Internet is the future.

I'm not so sure about this. My impression is that most of the poor advice in this section is due to ignorance rather than malevolence.

Also, the information to noise ratio is Tips/Instruction is much better than in any other section. The troll and idiot posts here are much fewer in number.

I'm not sure how true the OP's statement is, but I'm sure it's a lot easier for people to post craps than to help.

They want to display what they think is sparkling wit

AND

They want to get their message count up, so they can have a nifty title near their id.

not - new user

We all come from different walks of life and backgrounds. I personally like these forums 'cos you can always get something out of it. If you are not interested, don't read it. If you think you need to improve your volleys or forehand or whatever, just make a post about it. I'm sure you get appropriate advice. It's simple as that. Here is a guy who brings a bit of philosophical perspective into it and all you read from other posters is trash.

Well, in general it's easier to destroy than to create. Spend 5 hours building an elaborate house of cards, and it can be broken down in seconds.

If you guys want philosophy, how about this: Posters can't try to harm/help cuz there is no "try". You do or do not, there is no try. Thanks Yoda...

And btw, you can glean some jewels of info in this forum. But it's like shopping at Ross i.e. sorting thru a lot of crap to get one amazing find. And double btw, a tip I read here improved my second serve a lot. After I went out and tried (haha, try...) it, I was like holy moly it works. Ah ha moment. Thank you tips-instructions section.

So I do agree with kite, but how is his statement gonna help our game..?

This is a perfect example of why people are so quick to shoot down your advice.

You always seem to be posting for the sake of arguing with people.

Tennis lessons are better on the court than showing someone a series of screencaps.
