I hope he comes back as good as he was but after such a long time out the odds are against it.
I love the way he blew Rafa off the court at the FO.
Would love to see more of that.

Even after all this time, I bet he could still challenge Nadal. Especially since Nadal is now in decline.

HAHA, yes the two injured guys. We should have an injured slam, or a silent ban/retirement slam. With fireworks and WWE announcing.

I hope that Soderling is able to return and end his career on his own terms.

Still the final act of his career before his long lay-off was to win the 2011 Bastad title in such dominant fashion:
16 JUNQUEIRA, Diego (ARG) 6-0 6-1
QF STARACE, Potito (ITA) 6-3 6-4
SF BERDYCH, Tomas (CZE) 6-1 6-0
FR FERRER, David (ESP) 6-2 6-2

It's a pity Nadal doesn't play Bastad anymore, although he doesn't need to after he's done sweeping the clay-court season. Nadal won the tournament in 2005 beating Tomas Berdych in the final.

If Nadal Bastad 2005 faced Soderling Bastad 2011, what would the result be? (Obviously Nadal, but I'm interested in predicted scorelines.)

Wow, *** believes that every player's dream is beating Nadal. Sad.

*** (nadal_slam_king?) is not even participating in this thread. I'm fairly sure he is still banned, so I can't see what it is that you're responding to. Looks like Talk Tennis is as paranoid as ever.

Yeah, I'm confused about the *** reference; and I'm almost certain that he is still banned.

Soderling was already ill at 2011 Wimbledon. He was sweating profusely and the commentators observed that he didn't look well.

Even more proof Fed is Goat...overcame Mono to win more slams.

None of you know what it is like unless you have had it (bad case) before. It takes alot out of you, you are never the same. I had a bad case for over a year, and it seems Soderling had the same thing. He won't ever be able to get his energy levels the same.

Gonna miss this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2K8i_jpzEw

hahahahhaha

Federer had supposedly the lightest case of mononucleosis possible, so it doesn't surprise me that he'd be able to overcome it. Not difficult to overcome a weak obstacle.

True I heard the highest possible form of an illness a tennis player can have is a fat deposit behind your tendon which restricts you to playing golf and poker
