Those links were to the release info - not audio clips unfortunately.

You said the stuff you liked was sort of chillout/smooth jazz. The Mushroom Jazz comps personify that exactly. Don't be misled by stuff you hear when you google Mark Farina - most of that will be is clubby stuff which is nothing like the comps I mention which helped make him famous.

KLF's whiteroom still pretty fresh.

Robert Miles Children from 96 was pretty much regarded as a benchmark techno track,

No, it was not. It's not even techno and it never was.

The only people who thought it was techno were fuddy duddy's who were new to electronic music or who were coming over from Whitney Houston and Garth Brooks.

It was marketed as "dream" music
A tiesto 1.0 I might say
Nothing to do with techno apart from his tracks constructions maybe

Jeff Mills and Robert Miles do NOT boxe in the same category

Try his track called Dream Machine (downtempo mix if I remember)

Ok. I have another query or puzzle for older music lovers. In the 70's I had an album. It was African music, and instrumental NOT vocal. It had a black cover from what I remember.

I cannot remember the name of the album or anything, but it was great music, like jungle music, and sort of made me think I was on a safari in Africa.

A few years back I hunted through all the African hits of the 70's but didn't see anything that looked familiar. And it is NOT Osibisa, or Soul Makosa or Shaft in Africa. I believe if i hear the name or see the cover, and see the song titles, I'll be able to recognize it. It was not Jazz, no saxophones.

Darn, that is obscure ha ha...

Fela Kuti may have done some instrumental albums back then... very African/tribal rhythm type stuff. He was prolific so possibly did some instrumental only productions in his huge catalogue.

^ I don't think it's Fela Kuti. I asked my older bro if he could remember and he said No. And he has lots of Fela Kuti on his iPod.

But yes, it did have that jungle tribal sound to it. Some nice grunts and such noises placed musically. My parents got that LP for me. If they got it from Europe then it must have been very popular.

Once or twice they did go to Africa so that complicates matters. However, i doubt they got it from Africa, since I remember the music my dad got from there. Some hit album called Elongi and other boring stuff. Therefore, this must be something that sold pretty well in Europe.

One of the great techno tracks from the 90s is up on Beatport as a remix contest now. Never thought I'd see the day a track this good ended up there. > Black Odyssey 'Sweat' on youtube
