Default Sunglass Lens for Night Use?

What color of lens should be used when wearing sunglasses at night?

I would assume clear but it doesn't seem T-W offers sunglasses with interchangeable lenses where clear is one of the lens colors it comes with. So I assume there is some other color than clear that is designated for nighttime use.

I'm going to start wearing sunglasses during the day to save some strain on my eyes (which are getting worse now that I'm moving past my mid 40s) and want to keep the feel of using them at night.

Thanks for any and all help.

I asked this of my eye doctor just a few weeks ago....

his recommendation for additional contrast at night was a yellow lens like shooters use ....

and for added contrast during the day he recommended a brown tinted lens...

I would say yellow is spot on. Yellow lenses just give really good clarity, hence the use by drivers.

I always wear brown lens sunglasses to play in, as brown does the same in daylight.

Its like going from watching a standard movie on TV to then watching it in HD.

This, apart from the HD remark. Go for yellow!

I bought some yellow night vision glasses off Amazon for $10. My opponents get a kick out of poking fun at me but it does help me see better at night.

Any Oakley users? What would be the best Oakley lens for tennis during the day?

Thanks!

Any glare issues with the yellow lenses and the tennis lights?

Tried my Bolle Green lenses last night and there seemed to be quite a bit of glare.

Thanks.

I've tried the yellow Bolle lenses and, while everything gets very bright, there is much less contrast between the ball and the overall yellow glow. A friend recently gave me a pair of amber lens shades that are supposedly for night wear -- haven't been motivated to try them yet. Clear racquetball goggles are inexpensive and good for pure eye protection. I suspect small frame safety glasses will work fine, too.

It brightens everything up. Maybe if I have to go look for a lob, I get a halo effect with the lights. Overall, it is an improvement over the naked eye.
