I have the iPhone 5, as do several of my friends, and I can assure you no one cares about the Maps issue. In fact, most are just thrilled to have turn by turn navigation baked into the OS. RIP GPS market. The tech sphere makes mountains out of molehills, but the fact remains that Apple is crushing the competition while keeping innovation to a minimum. That is the real disappointment.

Your underlined words are explained by your "most are just thrilled" phrase and what it represents. If you and your friends, who are Apple consumers, are thrilled to finally have something thats been on the market for years on other phones , well Apple has little incentive to further innovate. That is after essentially creating the smart phone market in the first place... |

I see you changed your screen image. If that wasn't a pic of your gf, I doubt you have one; or she better not know about it, because then you definitely wouldn't have one anymore... |

thats why I said the new 5 looks cheaper and less substantial than the 4! All aluminum was not a good choice, particularly when painted black (looks and feels much more 'plasticy' than stainless steel)... I'm glad others have said this, including even an Apple brown-nosing sight, shows I was not just trolling as some have said. |

Exactly. The iPhone 5 is the best piece of electronic equipment I've ever owned hands down.

i started to ask people about the Lumia but the main concern is that it's app development tools and software is still in such early stages and it lack some major tools for developers so it might be a long time for the Lumia os to be actually useful

^ But you're not remotely objective either, and see the comparison in extremes when its nothing of the sort. To read your posts, you'd think the iPhone5 was the worst thing ever invented and the S3 the best thing ever invented, when the reality is nothing of the sort.

Lol..look how angry the droider gets over a cell phone. My god. I think it is the lack of OS updates that frustrate him.
People still dont grasp how much faster the new iphone is compared to the s3. That is really the key to a great cell phone. Speed and efficiency. The iphone 5 has won all the benchmarks in that aspect and that is why people love it so much.

On the side by side tests i've seen, apps open up a second or two quicker on the new iPhone. For me, that would be nice to have, but nowhere near as important as the operating system. I use a brand new Windows machine at work and it's very quick, i'd take my 6 year old, slower MacBook over it anyday though! Same for the phone, it's all about the OS personally. |

Lol, this topic is still going on? Obviously both are great phones. Choose one. End thread.

I also agree that it is all about the OS as well. I think apple caters to more creative people who like to create art or music on their devices. As we know the only os that works for this is iOS. The internal latency on droids makes it almost impossible to do these things on. In fact his has already been discussed, but the lag time is over 100ms! That is a ton. Many artists are now making their albums on ipads and iphones now, and I believe that will be the future since you can sketch an idea you have anytime it pops into your head. Here is an example of an app only on iphone and only possible on iOS ( I do not think you have to be a music maker to appreciate how simply amazing this $5 app is...just watch ) : http://discchord.com/blog/2012/9/10/...-released.html So people are saying Apple is behind..no it is not behind. It is ahead on things that creative types find valuable. If you are not that type of person then it does not apply, but if you are, there is no other mobile OS that can do these things, including Windows 8. An app is coming for iOS that will link together all the music apps so you will be able to basically have a studio in your pad or phone with all the apps you own. That is simply amazing. A quote from them with the link to the article on the app : "Google has made some steps in the right direction with a lower latency audio implementation in Android 4.1, but the only devices supporting that in a decent way have almost no market-share. When we’re talking about iOS and music we’re mainly talking about the iPad – a tablet – and Android tablets make up less than 3% of all Android devices. Until that changes and Google finds a way to stop fragmentation on Android in a way that gives developers a quasi-standard device specification to develop for, without having to test on 40+ Android devices, the music app market on Android won’t be able to compete with the music app market on iOS. Windows 8 has a long road ahead before it can prove that it’s a viable market for developers. That’s all I can say about it since I’m not a fan of speculation." http://www.synthtopia.com/content/20...-music-making/ so once again, the iphone is by far the fastest phone available. It is not even close. So to those of us who care about those things, it is the clear choice. the creative capabilities of the device are far superior to any other option, and I speak from experience.

My wife's iPhone 5 is awesome. Every feature is way better and faster than the 4. The clarity is unbelievable with way less distortion. The maps feature so far is simply amazing and works great. no complaints so far.

I have not delved into the 3D stuff but I do use the turn by turn directions on the Tom Tom app which is cool. Google Maps is significantly better at finding places around you. For instance, type in one or two places about 10 miles from where you work and compare the two. I'd be curious if Apple goes 2/2. |
