I have about 16 hours on my set up and it's looking pretty good. I refrained from clipping off the hairs of my gut so now it looks pretty ugly. No issues though and am glad I took a liking to the guy/poly hybrid.

Ordered a set of white 1.18 co-focus in prep for my next stringing. Going to string it up with a 16l set of pacific classic. Can't wait to see what this setup is about.

Just install pacific classic 16L/big banger alu 16L at 56/54 on my 95D, have hit with it for 30 minutes, for breaking in period i think classic 16L have less power and spin than VS team at the same tension and cross.

Into 30 hrs plus on this setup...spin is unreal..I've added 4 grams on my frame at 9 and 3 for the first time since playing to get an even heavier ball....one strand has started to branch apart from that as good as new. Highly recomended

Got it in my racket for 2nd time, 1st time my gut broke after over 1 hr use from grommet.
2nd time.didn't like it at first - that was the gut felt dead and stiff (2 yr old gut in packaging), then I decided to 9grams more of lead tape, played yesterday and loved it, now it feels soft, love the crontrol, not getting pop on ball but that's due to my technique- trying to introduce more topping; love hitting flat though. Been using it now for around 5hrs. If it keeps playing like yesterday then better than gut/alu rough

Logged about 25 hours on the set up in my sig. In the last hitting session it actually felt boardy. I'm chalking it up to the poly going dead.
Since I've gotten over 25 hours I'm considering going to a thinner gauge for the gut mains. I'll see how it goes after this weekend of hitting.

Great thread here, which I'm slowly wading through. And, wow, what incredible amounts of time people are getting out of these set ups... unbelievable... "Shakes head disbelievingly."
Anyhow, I'm about to hybrid Pacific Classic 16 with a poly in my APD Original. My question is, aside from MSV Co-Focus, which I may have a problem sourcing where I am, what polys might people recommend to go with the Pacific Classic in the APD? I'm very new to gut TBH but recently played with an old Fischer VT95 with VS/Iontec @ 56/52 lbs, and needless to say, was very impressed indeed. As the APD is my main squeeze though, I'd like to know what polys may work well with Pacific in the stiffish APD Original. A few suggestions here would be great. TIA

Can you get any of the Weiscannon strings where you are? I've tried B5E and Scorpion as the crosses in this setup and they are close to the Co Focus. Might try Silverstring, too.
Just liked Co Focus better.

Before switching to Co Focus, I was using SPPP (1.23mm) as a cross w/ Pacific Classic & Tough Gut 17g. I probably would have gone back to it after my reel ran out, but gave Co Focus a try due to this thread. As it tuned out, I liked Co Focus 'ever-so-slightly' better.
As the guy at G & G said on the phone, Co Focus is essentially SPPP 'plus', so if you can't get the MSV strings, give Signum a chance.

Posture and McLovin,
Thanks for that ^. I have a set of Silverstring laying around actually. I'm also familiar with SPPP and can source it easily enough. I can get other MSV polys strings but not the Co-Focus I think, so great to hear of alternatives.

With this recent set I pre-stretched my gut. I previously did not but I felt that by not doing so it made the gut too lively for my stroke. It's now dead on in how I like my string bed.
Again as I mentioned before I feel effortless power. I know for some people that sounds bad but what I take from it is that I can have a calm, relaxed swing and still produce reasonable pace. When the opportunity arises in a low pace incoming ball or short ball I can really rip one for a winner. I previously used SPPP in the same gauge as my cross. I cannot tell much of a difference between SPPP and Co-Focus initially so I won't be able to comment there. I did find at around 25hrs the dead/dying cross was noticeably stiff. I did not experience the result that Smasher did. Having said that, I will wait until the Co-Focus gets around the same amount of hitting hours as the SPPP combo before I dismiss it. I'm hoping Co-Focus doesn't have as pronounced a death as SPPP did. I also had a friend use my second racket strung with the same exact setup. He's a very flat hitter(you can actually read the words on the ball flat). He absolutely loved the set-up. Much more than I anticipated. The interesting part was that he was hitting with more spin. I'm chucking that to the string set-up as another user claimed that gut/poly had a spin potential of "brain dead easy".

If you hadn't prestretched it, you probably wouldn't be able to notice any poly death at all. Unfortunately when I used prestretched setups, I could definitely feel it around hours 20-26 or so, but afterwards it was just fine.
