Well better to start it before the set started rather than in between no one knew how long it would last (the set) your just blaming the roof for nadal's loss

Of course he is. He claims to not care about it, but he is obviously seething at what happened. It's complete bullcrap what he's saying.

First of all everything except centre court is outdoors . Secondly to change in the middle of a match is just about the same as changing a grass court and then in the middle move over to clay. The difference between an indoor match and outdoor match is that big. It's as much a game changer as the surface .....maybe even more. It reminds of the movie hunger games.....they kept changing the rules in the middle of the game ..."now you two people from the same clan can survive .......change......now only one can survive ". It's not fair. Wimbledon should go indoors altogether or outdoors altogether .....but not both .

I referred to the roof, and then others quoted me and replied. Am I supposed to ignore them? Anyone who thinks Wimbledon knows how to use a roof is kidding themselves. And nothing to do with Rafa. Wimbledon is the last slam I'd care about Rafa winning. Roland Garros and the Australian Open are my favorite slams by far.

It doesn't matter who you are a fan of, if you have a brain you know Wimbledon doesn't know how to use a roof.
“This is an outdoor tournament, so I think everybody wants to play when the roof is open,” Djokovic said. “I was a little bit surprised when I saw sunshine that the roof is closed. But obviously they’re relying on the forecast that I don’t think is very reliable here.” - Djokovic commenting on the Nadal-Rosol match. |

Your not giving me an argument. Your just saying that you wouldnt close it but why???????? Where is the why factor??? My argument is If you know the light is going to fade away you might as well close the roof before the set starts rather than in the middle of it. FYI the bolded is a personal attack but I refuse to stoop down to your level.

The light is the reason they close the roof. The shift in humidity happens after they close it, and is something else that affects conditions. (It's one of the reasons Roger can close sets out much faster when the roof is closed. He's essentially playing indoor tennis.) Did you not know that??

Aren't we getting so far away from the OP in the last few pages? Roof and Wimby? Since we're in the deep of it, here are my 2 cents. Roof is there to stay. Whine or not whine, it wouldn't change a thing. Personally, I prefer having it so we can use it to avoid these lengthy rain delays. As a player, as a spectator, who REALLY loves sitting around for 4-5 hours, play 30 minutes, and sit out and wait for another 5 hours before getting sent home? Who in their right mind?
Rafa lost, roof or no roof. They may have played on ice, or quick sand, or underwater. He still got blown off court that day. Stop making such childish excuses. Swallow your pride and keep walking. |

A 5 set match with the 5th being 6-4 is being blown off the court? I think you need to revise your idea of just exactly what that means. And Wimby is an outdoor tournament, and closing the roof just in case it rains is bs,and shouldn't be allowed.

I don't get Nadal fans. Do they really insist Nadal would have won everything on the tennis calendar if it weren't for various conspiracies?

I take it that you like to sit around waiting for 5 hours, play for 30 minutes, then wait another 5 hours, then go back to your hotel to resume tomorrow, isn't it? Well, different strokes for different folks, what can I say? Rain may come, daylight is fading, whatever... If there is a roof, use it. It would be stupid for NOT using it. Wimby people are smarter than USO people IMO. |
