Drak, apparently your usage of Apple Maps has other benefits. It uses far less data compared to Google Maps:

Here is a very unbiased opinion on these two devices. it favors iphone 5 in speed. but color richness and display favors Galaxy S3.

I am very much a visual person, like beautiful things and beautiful women. so i favor Galaxy S 3 overall.

Ok but how many times do we really buy phones based on benchmarks alone. We buy things based on feel and way we view the item. i posed a very much unbiased opinion above. but given that, i prefer S3 since i am a visual kind of person like most people.

Yet the I5 has been rated as having the richest and most detailed screen of any phone in the Anandtech link that I posted before as well.

But the people here like myself who said we value speed and smoothness and find the i5 to be the best were told by few people that we should not be able to notice the difference. So the benchmarks show how dramatic that difference is, and why it means so much.

But that video does show how much faster the 5 is ..its not even close..especially on the voice questions..wow. I cant wait. So sick of the droid lag that is very evident in that youtube vid.

oh yea. i saw iphone 5 and S3 side by side and viewed Utube and installed movies and Galaxy S 3 is so much better, it litterally turned me off to Iphones. richness and color of amold screen is so much better. benchmark really doesn't tell the real story of real viewing experience.

Just use your phone and stop trying to justify your choice!

How much convincing do you need?

Insecure much?

Agree with you but the drop test is something practical we all like to know. we can't all afford to buy that insurance just in case.

I was in Union Square for lunch and the kids that lay under the horse statues were impressed by my iPhone 5 when I showed them Air Hockey and Google search.

I pretty doubtful regarding the new Iphone's durability. The new one just isn't as tuff as the last one...

You claim that people who buy apple products are uninformed, yet you post this?

The iPhone 5 is FAR more durable than the iPhone 4/4S. It beat out the GSIII in multiple drop tests from multiple sources, and the ifixit guys posted a video where they dropped the 5 multiple times on a tile floor, and the screen didn't crack until they borderline threw it on the ground from 5+ feet up.

You can say that you personally find it cheaper feeling (I disagree with this personally), or that the anodized aluminum on the black is more prone to scratching or scuffing (this I agree with), but this is a far more durable phone than the iPhone 4(S) in terms of withstanding drops and not shattering or breaking.

In fact, both tests show that you basically have to actively try to break your phone to cause any serious damage. It also, for what it's worth, holds up much better than the Galaxy S III (below). That's no excuse to start throwing your iPhone 5 around like a $200 on-contract football, but you can rest assured that this year's model isn't made of glass, literally or figuratively.

Of course, it could be argued that's because it contains far less data compared to Google Maps.

Ok, that'll be my final pop at the Maps app. I've flogged that horse, and then some. I'm currently using Google Maps via a browser when I'm stationary, and am flicking between Waze and NavFree for turn-by-turn.

As a side note, Siri still hasn't been properly globalised:

Me: What are the latest football scores?
Siri: Queens Park Rangers was beaten by West Ham last Monday; the final score was 2 to 1.

That was indeed the latest match in the English Premier League. But someone needs to teach him (yes, Siri's male over here...) that we would never say '2 to 1'.

Nice to see it recognising this sort of question though. I might well find myself using it more.

I found this useful as well. On the weekends, even when the screen is locked I can fire up Siri and ask about NFL or College Football scores, and it hasn't missed one yet. Even if I ask by school name or mascot, it works well.

It's an imperfect feature, but it's getting better and more useful.

WTH would I claim people that buy Apple products are uninformed when I own several myself !!!

Sorry but I consider finish just as important, if not more important, when it comes to durability. Scrathes and ding events have a much higher probability of happening than the screen shattering events. The new Iphone's finish, especially in black, is just poorly executed. Again, aluminum was a bad choice; at least in the way Apple chose to finish or seal it...

Should have said "iPhones" not apple products in general. That's my bad.

Someone mentioned "the drop test" being important and you said: "pretty doubtful regarding the new Iphone's durability. The new one just isn't as tuff as the last one..."

Again, the post you responded to was specifically talking about drop durability, which is light years better on this phone than on the 4 or 4S. This is proven by every drop test and every comparison done so far. In addition, we've seen the iPhone 5 last longer and hold up better than top Android phones, even in tests performed by Android specific website.

As for scratches and dings...Every phone gets these. Some might be more prone than others (and the black iPhone may well fit in this camp), but my black iPhone 5 was flawless out of the box, as was my wife's white iPhone, and so far in nearly two weeks of use there aren't scratches or scuffs on either phone. If you take a set of keys or a knife or sharp object to any phone, it will scratch, iPhones included. Fwiw, people who had issues right out of the box have been able to return their phones for new ones that aren't damaged.

Side note, the HTC One X is incredibly prone to scratches, both on the screen and on the body. The reason you didn't hear about it was because 6 million people didn't buy/preorder the HTC One X in the first 48 hours it was available, so it wasn't big news. Any time Apple does something, good or bad, it's national news. It's the reason why we have so many "___gates", and why so many people hate the iPhone.

Yes i agree. This really confused me to no end. I hear on CNN reports that brand new Iphone 5 out of the box may have scratches or little chips on the paint or plastic. and then i hear Drop test is much better than previous phones and even Galaxy S3 on Utube. So what is going on here ? this is confusing me . Arrrrrrrhhhhhh.
