Guys, this might make you a bit jealous,, but tomorrow i will receive the 2013 AeroPro drive to playtest
Its for a coming article in the magazine i write for. It will be extremely interesting. I really liked the update from the blue PD GT to the black active cortex PD. It felt so much more solid. Will report how it plays after the weekend. Will not post any pics though as it is going to be published in end of november and it will be out in the shops (the racquet) in December here in Sweden

I received my 2013 Babolat Aeropro Drive GT a few days ago and have played three matches with it. Overall really impressed with the stability and the feel with the new version. I really like the feeling of the new handle and cortex system. Same feeling with the 2012 Pure Drive racquet. Felt like I was hitting more spin then my previous Aeropro Drive GT and I could flatten out my forehand with no issues.
To me with the redesigned grip and cortex the racquet just felt more solid. I just wanted to give my feedback. If you have any questions let me know, but I am not going to take a picture of the racquet and post it on this forum because I am under contract with Babolat and that would not be fair to them. How does the quality of the new paint job compare to the APDGT? Does the new racket feel the same as the APDGT in terms of weight and swingweight? I read the new APD is stiffer. Does it absorb shock well when hitting the ball? |

I was looking carefully the photo of this new APD and comparing it with the current GT version (picture in TW). Seems that the new version has a less rounded head and the throat area has a slightly different shape. I wonder if its just a visual effect. Can anyone do this exercise and comment?

Frame does look great and the redesigned logo isn't that bad. Better than the old one for sure.

Yeah I forgot to mention the throat of the racquet seems a hair thinner in width vs the previous model. The specs of racquet is
Unstrung Weight 10.6oz Stiffness 74 RA So racquet is just a little stiffer Balance 7 pts HL Swing 293Kg Section 23-26-22 mm I did notice especially on one handed slices the ball lands very deep in the court. Racquet is very effortless to hit groundies deep as well. Can't really speak of volleys because I usually rally from the baseline. I thought my serve had some extra pop to it though perhaps the extra stiffness of the racquet. I played another friend of mine that is rated 5.0 and we usually have tight matches, but with the new Aeropro I beat him 6-4 6-0. I just felt I couldn't miss and I hardly had any unforced errors. I am impressed with the new stick......its not just an updated paint job, but to me feels redesigned. |
