I am wondering what happens to the old model when there is a minor change to the current model.
Looking at Pure Drive, the price difference is only $30. Is it typical discount amount? It doesn't sound much to me. But Pure Drive is the most popular model, so that may be why the discount is very small. And how long are the old one usually available? Could the used rackets be even cheaper? I was thinking about buying Yonex Vcore 100S, but I just heard that new one is on the way (late November). Thanks. |

I watched the pb7 drop from 189 to 139 then now to 99.
I paid 139 for my 1st and just got 2 additional used for a buck twenty shipped. |

It really depends on the popularity. Many previous generation Dunlop racquets already only cost $75, and the next generation is already almost out. The Pure Drive is different since it's extremely popular, and since, presumably, the new Cortex system may lead some risk-averse people to buy the old model. But most manufacturers have to give higher discounts until the old stock is gone.

A new one must not be wanted more than an old version, so I think the price should not be much higher.

^^ Concur that waiting for a new model doesn't always make sense, the radical being a good example of a racquet for which there are many fans who prefer prior versions to the current version.

I don't know how popular Youtek IG Extreme, but it went down to half...
Yonex Vcore 100S seems to be quite popular, but how long do you guys think it would take to go from $189 to $99? 1 month? 3 months? or 6 months? |

The Aero Pros get painted red and are sold off as Rolland Garros Version. They're working on making a Wimbledon version in green. Pure Storms and the like never change, so they repaint those for the 2013 upgrade.

^^^ This is a great example... really good value on this prior yy model. I picked up two RDiS 200 @ $89ea. Love them.
But, the 200 makes me wonder if I would like the Xi 98 even better...sigh |

The unsold ones go & live out their remaining years in obsolete racquet retirement homes, where they're occasionally visited by the current models and taken out for a gentle hit once a year at Christmas. But they have to be back before 6pm ready for lights out.
Sometimes though, they just die and the good racquets go to Racquet Heaven where they're played with by angels and saints. Sometimes God gets his Barricades on and has a run around too. But, if they've been bad ...... |

Thank you, everybody, very much.
Sounds like the old model can still be available for more than a year, and hopefully they will reduce the price within the next 3 or 4 months. |
