Nope, he's still #1 in the entry ranking. He's #2 in the race. He's still the top seed in any tourney he joins. He's 1,400 points ahead of Nole.

If federer reches QF at shanghai, no matter if djokovic wins, he will secure 300 weeks at no.1, staying in that position until october 22nd.

Nope, supposing djokovic wins the final vs tsonga tomorrow, his ranking will be 10970 pts, then if he wins Shanghai he will have 11970.....so federer needs at least 165 pts from shanghai to equal that, so he needs to reach QF(180 pts), leaving him with 11985 pts.

Exactly. So to reach 300 weeks at no 1 Federer needs to beat

- a qualifier or Zhang Ze (a young Chinese player without a lot of experience on the ATP tour)
- Wawrinka (most likely)

That of course assuming Djokovic wins Beijing and then Shanghai which is not an easy task, even for him.

Nope. RogerFan didn't take the 0-pointer from Tokyo last year into account. It will drop next Monday, and Federer will gain his 90 points from Doha, for a 11,895 point total. So, a single win in Shanghai will be enough. Not that he plans to stop there, I guess...

I never understood the 0-pointers for missing tournaments (or never bothered to check that correctly), I guess you're right. It means that only an earthquake can stop Federer from getting to 300 weeks at no 1.

That could be a very smart move from him. That way he only gets to play 2 tournaments back-to-back (Beijing-Shanghai and then Paris-WTF), while Fed has to play Shanghai and then 3 tournaments back-to-back-to-back, unfortunately it just wouldn't be right for Fed to skip Basel and play Beijing instead, even though theoretically it would benefit him more in the long run.

Fed's draw looks pretty cake till the semis next week, unless he got overly spooked by the death threat, he should be through to the semis.

yup, Novak got it even easier than Fed. cakewalk to the final. Berdych might be the only guy to test him.

I don't think Doha points will be counted. Since it hasn't been specified that the Olympics counts as a 500 tournament quota. We will have to wait until Monday and see, of course I hope he'll get 300 weeks.
