Hah, that would explain it.

Why doesn't he have these hilarious misses off groundstrokes then? Doesn't lack of eyesight hurt you off midcourt putaways?

Becuse he's not looking straight to the lights. In outdoor conditions when the sun is up,he wears hat, I guess it's easier for him,but in indoor conditions, I think that lights have big impact on his eye focus.

Wouldn't that also affect his serving indoors?

lol, funny thread but Dang, and most of you are right. Novak is something when it comes to smashing. He is getting better, but some of his mishits made me chuckle so much that my tummy was literally hurting.

so yeah, it the smash category Djokovic is the worst #1 in tennis history .

I would think so. And I am sure there are many players who wear contacts that don't have a smash as terrible as Cvac's. Sounds like an excuse to me.

Yeah I can hardly remember a time when Fed/Rafa/Roddick/Sampras ever missed a smash.

but Murray and Djoker have had some epic fails.

The smash is a confidence shot. There isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the way he hits it. It's just that for some reason his normally quick footwork becomes sluggish and he can't seem to contact it cleanly.

not saying it never happens...but the title says a "terrible smash" ...the guys I listed win plenty of points on that stroke to make up for the very few times they don't.
