I am looking for the spinniest syn gut or multi - doesn't matter which kind but I tend to prefer a crisper feel. I want 17g and it has to be cheap, around $3.50 per set / $70 for a 660 reel.
Any suggestions? Thanks |

People love Gosen on this board.

Apparently no longer available in the USA, but Yonex Tournament 80 Spin does it better than any SG I have used. Still, not poly-like spin potential.

Gosen OG Sheep Micro 17 (natural or crystal, stay away from black), you'll thank me later.

Gosen OG Micro 18. Won't last more than 5-6 hours maximum though.

Try Sweet 17 and see if you like it.

Sweet 17 at 60 lbs was still kind of too powerful for me. Forten Sweet is a great soft and powerful string. Plays more powerful then multi imo. A bit too much for me.

Kind of rules out Forten Sweet.
OP the amount of spin you're going to get from a synthetic is limited. Truth be told, if you have the technique, you'll generate respectable spin with pretty much any synthetic. For what you're looking for Gosen is definitely a good option. Klip Scorcher has a very crisp feel as does Alpha MXT, but they're both out of your price range by the set, and you can't get MXT in a reel. Technifibre Syn gut is said to have a crisp feel to it, but how crisp it is compared to Gosen I can't say. I have a reel of it coming in on Thurs. I was curious how it stacked up against Gosen, so I ordered a reel since it was cheap. I'll let ya know if you haven't made a decision by then.

Cheap, crisp syn gut? OGSM 16, I personally found better spin and feel with the thicker versions than with the 17g. I prefer to cross it with 17g Forten Sweet. I found surprisingly good spin with this set up, but it lasts all of 1.5-2hrs before losing it all: that crisp response, spin, and tension - basically it goes to mush. That's just how OGSM is.

If "synthetic" includes multifilaments, try Head RIP Control.

If you want to know go to the TW University page. Surprisingly, one of the lowest coefficient of friction synguts is Ashaway Liberty 16. I've used it and it is good. My favorite string was Prince Recoil but it was expensive and they don't make it anymore.
