Extremely bitter. Very much how the football managers here in the UK moan about decisions going for the 'big teams.' It's a meek excuse.

I didn't see the match. Is there anything at all to what he says?. I suspect not, going by his whining after the Miami match against Rafa a while ago.

I've certainly seen many times calls go for the big teams in football, but I don't think that's at all the case in tennis.
Much less with hawk eye in use...
He seems to be looking for excuses for his results.

line call is one thing,
but what about top 4 getting away with up to 10 seconds until challenge while the rest get 2-3 sec ?

this actually happened in one of the recent matches.

I like Jo - but he also once blamed a defeat on the ballboys being too slow!

After that, I would take any complaints about his perceived victimhood with a healthy pinch of salt.

First serve from Djokovic in the tiebreak. Called out, Tsonga touched it, but clearly unreturnable. Djokovic challenged, got it right, and the umpire awarded him an ace. Very subjective at this point, obvously. Could have gone either way.

Or rather, Tsonga's take on it is that it *couldn't* have gone either way...

I saw the incident on Sunday, it was live on Supertennis channel. I didn't watch the whole match beacuse I had to go out but watched up to early in the 2nd set.

I did record the match so can check it again when I get home but if I remember Djokovic hit a serve that was called out which Tsonga returned into the net (backhand side) but was overuled after a challenge. I must admit I was expecting a 1st serve to be called and so did Djokovic because I'm sure he got two balls to serve again but the Umpire gave the point to Djokovic which is when Tsonga protested. He didn't overdo it with the Umpire just made his point very stridently.

You could argue the Umpire was in his rights to award the point to Djokovic but it appreared to me both parties were expecting a first serve / replay the point.

I will have to watch it again to see if I recall events correctly.

I understand losing to the same players in the later stage over and over again must be extremely frustrating but he seems to play this type of card too often for my liking.

Does he also remember those wrong calls in the opening set that all went against Novak and almost cost him the set in their Rome match this year?

Plus, Lahyani could be the strictest umpire when it comes to the hawkeye system with a late challenge or a situation like this.

Sour grapes then, sour grapes now. This is becoming a disturbing pattern for Tsonga. The Top 4 don't win their matches against other players in the upper echelon on the basis of a few line calls. If Tsonga has a problem with this, there's only one solution: get better.

Well, Mohamed Lahyani is a pretty bad umpire so this isn't surprising coming from him.

But Tsonga should stop whining, he gets owned by the top 4 and he should take the defeats like a man.

Its entirely plausible that umpires are more unintentionally indulgent with the top players.

This is basically what everyone has argued with respect to Nadal and Djoko's time wasting between points.

I thought Tsonga looked big on tv but in person he is extremely slender, or at least he was the last time I saw him.

There have been studies that have proven that the so called "home team advantage" when it comes to refs is actually true. If you don't think that the big four get favorable calls, you're either a fool or in denial.

Absolutely...with success comes privileges/favoritism others don't get. You don't think the calls went Michael Jordan's way most of the time when the game was on the line? How about Tiger? You don't think he was given a bit more leniency compared to others - at least before the fall
