So in short, yes it does stay the same size (for me at least) and it takes about a week of hitting for me, which is usually around 10ish hours.

Now that I've been using Shock Shield for about a month, I can say I agree with you for the most part. At first I was bit concerned about the larger grip size, but now it feels normal sized and stays that way. I think the break-in period was less than 10 hours for me, probably 3-4 sets.

If you can endure the short break-in period, it's a very nice grip for dampening shock and vibration.

Someone told me in other thread, he felt like Wilson SS takes away even more vibration than the Gamma pro RX. and pro RX takes away alot of vibration. Concern with me is with Wilson SS, it might take away too much and you lose feel for the ball and you don't get to feel the ball much at all. and that could be bad. Is this true ?

Shock Shield does dampen the feel, but I can't think of a dampening technology that actually works and doesn't dampen feel. If I didn't get some kind of a muted response, I'd probably think it wasn't working.

I'm keeping it because I still get good feel from my racquet. Shock Shield grip does less to mute feel than a big dampener like Wilson Shock Trap or Gamma Shockbuster II.

Default Pro Hybrid

I've recently switched to the Wilson Pro Hybrid grip. Leather with a synthetic covering. I really like them - not mushy but soft enough to be comfortable. They are also durable and have the right amount of tack. They also perform well in warm weather.

Although I've changed scores of overgrips over the years I had never replaced a grip. It was a fun project and I practiced putting a cheap white Shock Shield on a stick I do ever use. Screwed it up a bit but did a good job with the black on on a stick I use regularly.

The blue gel shown on the front of the packaging is grossly out of proportion to the thickness of the gel on the actual grip (which is maybe 1/4 the thickness). Still I have enjoyed this new grip and likely will install another on on another racquet in the next few weeks.

If you want thicker layer of gel, try Dunlop Gel-Zorb if you don't mind grooves.
The piece on the packaging is really out of proportion, but the actual layer is just enough for the grip not to become spongy.

i am just wondering if you had to compare these both to Gamma pro RX grip. which will shrink down more ? Have you tried the gamma pro RX before ? i was just wondering which is thicker ? From the pic above, Wilson doesn't look that thick compared to gamma one ?

I never tried any other hybrid grip. I agree that the piece of gel on the front of the package is a bit deceiving. I'm pretty satisfied with Shock Shield, so I plan to keep using it.
