My shoelaces keep tearing, breaking, ripping.. whatever you'd like to call it. It happens when i slide, or abruptly stop most of the time... Nike and Adidas.. Anyone have any tricks on how to stop this from happening? surely i'm not the only one..?

I've always had this problem, and finally the guy at the local shop told me to lace them up again after the initial lacing, but slighty tighter.
Seemed to have worked for 20 odd years. On my latest shoe, I've gone thru 2 sets of laces on the right shoe. I forgot his advice, obviously. |

Put a tiny strip of duct tape on the part of the lace that rubs against the eyelet

tie your shoes different. Do the initial tying, and than just do it again. So you will end up with two sets of bunny ears.

in my experience nike and adidas laces are really poor quality....
I always had to replace them very quickly! with asics this never happens, laces are great and I never have to change them... they are still in pretty good condition when I have to replace the shoes.. |

That's why you should always carry a spare pair of laces in your racket bag to your matches. A broken shoelace isn't something you really think about until it happens to you and then you realize you have to finish the match with essentially one shoe.

I never had this problem with Head shoes..
Try different laces, maybe the ones that came with the shoes are just poor quality.
