Been looking for my own stringing machine for some time for personal use, few days ago friend emailed me about used Gamma for sale in local ad.
However have no clue what model this is. Can someone clue me in and what would be good price. Pic. ![]() It looks similar to Gamma ST II or X-ST. Last edited by mike84 : 10-11-2012 at 07:13 AM. |

correct, i think the STII refers to a update base clamp design, no more wing nuts, just a lever

I am thinking there were ST, ST I, and ST II models this one being the oldest. Maybe Gamma Tech will chime in.

Thanks for help guys, much appreciated.
I am trying to come up with reasonable offer for the used Gamma. But also trying to decide if brand new gamma x-st from walmart would be better buy in long run. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gamma-X-ST...inger/13442965 |

I would go with a new machine every time no matter how good the deal seems to be. You have your guarantee if it breaks and if you decide you don't like it you can return it most of the time. if you get that good deal it's buyer beware. You could be buying someone else's problem.

no difference between a x-st and progression, identical machine. the blue base has drawers, red base doesn't.
also, buy from TW/TE/Mi d W est/or Hol a Bird, no tax, free shipping |

How good is the instruction manual with Gammas?
I have an older Klippermate (my 1st and so far only stringer), but the instruction book is/was top notch. Great pics and descriptions made it very easy for a newbie to grasp what to do when... and I've been thinking of upgrading to something like this. |

All progression machines are not the same some are drop weit, some crank, some fixed clamps, etc...

Tennis Warehouse doesn't ship to Canada and closest USA address possible is 1.5-2 hour drive to pick it up. On the other hand Walmart USA will ship to any store in USA and if something goes wrong I can always take it back to Walmart USA (also 1.5-2 hour drive.) Quote:

gamma does not have an instruction manual they have an owner's manual. In other words it does not teach you to string it only describes the machine. That's pretty good.

And Irwin, you are correct... it "mostly" describes the machine... the Klippermate drop weight instructions are better for true newbies who've never strung before, and the directions are very clear and well written... which makes sense considering that newbies are their market for that unit. |
