Will he even be back at all? Who knows what the truth is about this injury.

No surprise here, not sure why he would even if he could, should be prepping for the Aussie, not showing up to get smashed by Fed indoors again.

This is like a bad afternoon soap, I no longer believe anything coming from the Nadal camp.

I must admit to getting more and more nervous the longer he stays away. It's now been 4 months since he last played and there don't seem to be any reassuring statements about him coming back anytime soon, just a few vaguely hopeful hints.

I'm beginning to accept that it is highly unlikely he will return this season. I think January 2013 is the earliest time we can expect to see him re-emerge onto the scene. But we can only speculate on what kind of shape he will be in if and when he finally does re-appear. After all, a 7 month absence from the tour is bound to take its toll.

I really hope he comes back but by his facebook posts, tennis isn't even on his mind.

Nadal has no chance in hell of ever having a 2010 season ever again. He was only 23-24 and had a clear hurdle to winning Slams because Djokovic and Murray were non-factors. Now in 2013, Nadal is attempting his umpteenth comeback at nearly 27 and this time trying to take on the new Djokovic and Murray along with a much stronger field of Del Potro, Raonic and Tsonga. Nadal is older, not better. He's going to be facing a completely different level of competition in 2013. Nadal prior to 2011 never had somebody stomp him so badly and routinely, match after match. Basically many younger players are much more confident now against this aging and injury-prone Nadal.

I noticed that too. My hopes of his returning to the tour are about nil at this point.

Professional players can't even use Facebook now without having their commitment to Tennis brought into question?

Newer, younger warriors are now on the tour. And they are officially in their PRIMES. As I said, Djokovic and Murray were non-factors in 2010. They weren't ready to step up. Now they have. Nadal is going to be trying to beat Grand Slam champions who are in their primes. A younger and stronger Nadal hasn't won anything off clay in 2 years. This aging version of Nadal with damaged knees and declining confidence is going to be facing a whole new level of competition.
