Default Ball speed on camera

I was watching a bit of a match that I recorded of a friend of mine. He was serving bombs all match, my guess would have been 110's? Later, when watching the video, it looked like it was about 10mph's. Why is that?

Boggles my mind.

Video is 2-D, so there's no depth perception.

Makes you think about how hard the pros must be hitting for it to look fast on TV, doesn't it?

I think you just have not watched enough vids, nor enough live tennis.
Look at MofP's serves. Can't deny 125. Look at Cir2ca's bud;s serves, same thing.
I don't doubt your friend's 110, but you need an experienced eye to notice the hop after bounce, the arc of the ball after it's bounce, and the time the opponent has based on his skills and where he's positioned.
If the first serve is still moving upwards and fast, as the reciever is standing 6' behind his baseline, no doubt it's a fast serve.
If you see a downward gravity arc, it's not as fast.
