Default Forten Nylon 15L breaking

Just got a reel of Forten Competition Nylon 15L in black and tried to string my prostaff but the string broke on the machine three times in a row while i was doing the mains at different points. Tension was only 50lb and the grommets seem fine. Had no problem when I put in my usual isospeed professional 17 after giving up on the forten for the day. I know the stuff is dirt cheap and I can't expect much but I ought to at least be able to get it on the racket for a few hours. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this string?

My friend. You just bought a reel of string for the price of one set of the string you normally use, and you are surprised about it being cheap? That said, I have strung a fair bit of Forten Nylon without any premature breakage, but it's simply terrible, TERRIBLE string.

Regardless, the only time I've broken string while stringing that isn't normally likely to (i.e. no cheap natural gut) was with NRG2 18 a few years ago because I had the pull speed set to max. How quickly are you tensioning the string?

I wasn't going any more quickly than i typically do (I have a crank machine) but I will try going even slower than usual next time.

What didn't you like about the playability?

Do you think the color has anything to do with it? Have you tried both? I suppose whatever dye they use could be to blame. I would try white or natural but I doubt I will be buying this stuff again.

OK, so why are we using 15L nylon on a ProStaff?
A HyperHammer maybe.
I'd probably still use Sweet16.

Check your clamps. I use it for a player and he loves the old school feel.and I have had any problems.

I actually like a standard 15L nylon. Ive always found the feel quite nice. Never used Forten though, only Prince.

I have a reel of this, also black, and used about 5 pieces from it so far. No breakage. The tensions I used were in the 45-51 lbs. range.

Contact the store you purchased the reel from and complain. May be a bad batch.

Well I tried stringing up my yonex this time as carefully as I could but it has snapped again. Perhaps I got a bad batch as it appears most everyone else had not had such problems with it.

What kind of machine is it?
Perhaps the tension head grippers are damaging the string.
Can you adjust for the fatter string?
