I think it's great that you are now relieved of teaching duties, tough to be parent and coach forever. Also, at these early ages having a great hitting partner to reinforce technique and strategies can be even more important. I feel that a parent who can hit with their kid saves a lot of $$$ in academy fees. One hour lesson and 6-10 hours with dad hitting can work really really well.

Sorry, Arche3, I hope your son does well in whatever he wants to do.
How can I forget something that only happenned 55 years ago? I still remember the fire across the street in 1955, when I was 6. I still remember careening down the hallway on my red wagon at age 4, before kindergarden. 90's exponent, for those of you who don't play school sports in junior high, was the old way to separate the big kids from the little kids, in this case, both trying to make the school basketball team. They assign a number to your age, your grade, your weight, and your height. Most varsity basketball (talking 9th grade, junior high) players were taller than 5'9", and usually heavier than 130 lbs. How's a little talented tyke to compete? I represented the students in every faculty vs student basketball game (usually on rainy days) since 8th grade in Bball. I was smaller than most 7th graders. Tough luck. So, 90's are for little tykes, or 8th graders, who probably would play for the school the following season, but like JV in football, they aren't quite there YET. When I got to 9th grade, I played unlimiteds, started small forward, at under 5' and less than 90 lbs. Although I sucked at scoring, I averaged 17 rebounds a game for 8 games against other junior highs. |

Google "90s exponent basketball" and only the top two hits are relevant. First hit is this thread. Second hit is a post at another message board by a poster with the screen name of LeeD, oddly enough. So far, no independent confirmation that such a thing exists.
Is there any explanation for the origin of the name, or did someone decide to randomly pair "90s" with "exponent" just for fun? |

is becoming a reality. People now believe in the Lord wiki and refer to google as the "complete" record of our past. The death of truth and facts may be upon us soon. They are now malleable entities altered to manipulate the pawns if needed and subject to personal taste.

That people are taking the info they find using google and wiki as gospel. Did you know that if two people both type the same search words and do a google search they may get different query results returned?

^ The gospel according to wiki?
Yes, that wuz written by Saint Wiki back in 2003, after the Dumass wars of 2002. The people of uhmerikka done lernd alot frum it and things got rilly gud aftr that error. I mean era. Now, in the 24th and a half century, peeps are happier and less gayish, and there's not that many of us. We got unoversol helthcair and the birthrate is low cuz the testosterone count is low among both men and womans. It's rill kewl cuz we don't need condoms much anymore. Anyways it's kewl your boy is putten the smack down on peep's azzes man i edmyer that. i like money and i like sports. We could of had more sports and school and stuff but when I got my degree at Sam's club, things were pretty ofishent and we didn't had thyme fur a lot of extravernicular activatees. Cuz mainly we jes relyd on St. Wiki fur are research and fur testes and stuph. And then insteda reading and righting and boring stuph, we got rill familyer with social media and cool games like Kanye West NFL and Honey Boo Bolympics. ok so if yule ixcews me I am werken with today's leading psyentists on solving the great garbej crysis and the problem with dumasses these days. EDDET: hay weight a minnat i wonder wut the gospol uv st wiki done sed about garbij. They're's gotta be thumbthin in their about it, write Scro'? My kids 11 and he has been doing good against his peers as well. He's not as big as your kid, but he is bigger than average. In the U.S. a lot of kids that play tennis havn't played a lot of other sports. So your kid probably has athletic experience/advantage as well. Whenever I need a reality check I look at some of the older kids and look at some of the kids on youtube. Those really good kids play all the time. To be able to beat those kids a kid won't be able to just play twice a week.

You are right, a "regular" kid isn't going to compete with one where the family makes everything about junior's tennis. This is why you need to set realistic goals. No matter how good you are there are always people that can give you a 0 & 0 beatdown. And then more that can beat those people 0 & 0 and so on.
Yea, I've been down that rout personally years ago. Entered some tournament and got smoked by some guy that could angle his one handed backhand like nobody I'd ever seen before. He won the tourney btw. I've played a lot of hockey and tennis and always thought that tennis was the harder sport(unless you can't skate). With my kid he has never experienced that and I am kind of protecting him from a beat down until I think he can handle it as just a learning experience. |
