I just used mine in DC. The turn by turn worked like a champ.

Geekbench 236 is what all the phones are measured on. It has always been this way as long as we had cellphones

Jelly Bean is a must have if you have a droid. It is a no brainer. The people that have droids and say they are fast and smooth with ICs, will finally understand what that actually means.
3rd week of i5 and it's a winner for me. Just a beautiful device. I have reset it one time in 2 weeks and really just did it for peace of mind.

No Jellybean is not a must have! ICS is working great for me, was very happy with Gingerbread before that. So please stop with your generalizations regarding Androids...
What we do know is that the iphone is simply not capable of somethings that Androids have been doing for years. The advantages of IOS are all subjective and are in the eye of the beholder (besides Itunes being native; with Google Play not having near the selection). |

Can any Android users suggest a fix for my problem? Whenever I USB-transfer pics from my Galaxy Note (running ICS) onto my PC, it imports duplicate images usually thumbnails as well as any other images from web browsing. The pics are on the phone memory, not an SD card. It's driving me nuts!

The solution is to open them in MS Paint and convert them to Android format and then hope that Google isn't monitoring your keystrokes and capturing in real time all those crazy lies you're telling your loved ones and co-workers.
I cannot believe people could use Android knowing full well Google is a data mining company that has been caught red handed violating privacy laws many times. That alone makes me very happy to use Appull.

well, I am deciding between the two phones myself now. Both have some advantages the rival doesn't, which makes the choice harder. I have no experience with either iOS or Android. iP5 would be a perfect choice with a slighly larger screen (not just longer!) and better maps (a new version of Google maps is to come later this year). Again, all the apps are always available on iOS, whereas Android has a smaller choice.

I like the s3 a lot, I bought one of these to go with it, its the samsung galaxy s3 spare battery charging kit. It's a kit that includes a spare battery and a charging station that charges the battery only. So basically I carry a spare battery with me wherever I go and I never have to worry about battery life. I literally never even look at my battery indicator or worry about brightness settings or any of that stuff.

Freaking apple maps is so sweet. Locks on perfect to your location and when you click the power button the map shows up. The screen also comes on anytime you need to be notified of a turn. I like it better so far, as crazy as that sounds. The GPS lock is tight.
My battery lasts 2 straight days and I'm using the heck out of this phone. So I have no need to think about spare batteries again. I don't miss those days.

LTE coverage is lousy in my area, I'm practically using 3G most of the time anyway (not that I'm complaining, I hardly notice a difference in speeds anyway)
Maps, I haven't bothered to use very much. From what I've seen so far though, it definitely seems very clean and less cluttered. But for the sake of utility, google maps does it for me. Siri is a useless novelty, voice detection is meh at best; leagues above the Siri of the last iOS and you just look like a tool using it in public. I'm not sure how practical voice commands really are to begin with. Overall for a first time iPhone user, the iPhone 5 definitely makes a good first impression. But whether or not Apple can reinvent the wheel for the iPhone in the future will be what determines if I'm sticking with Apple in the future or if I go back to Andriod.

Both my wife and I were experience rapid battery loss up in DC. It does not seem as bad now that I am home. As for Apple Maps, I used turn by turn a few times in DC. Twice it told me to turn just as I passed the road. They need to tweak it to tell you earlier. As for Siri, that is just a novelty. I don't use it very much yet. |

The battery on the s3 is pretty good. I could probably go all day with moderate to heavy use on one battery if I check all the power saving mode settings on like cpu power saving, screen power saving, background color, and turning off haptic feedback, also using a lower brightness setting, and not using a live wall paper. The cpu power saving when on reduces the framerate and makes it kind of choppy and a few others turns the brightness all the way down when browsing the internet and I'm not a big fan of that. Thats a big reason why I have a spare battery so I can use the phone the way I want to use it with all the power savings modes off, etc...
Ive had the s3 for about a month and I used S voice a few times and that was it. I hear google voice is suppose to be a nice improvement when jelly bean arrives and ive used siri on my ipad a handful of times. It's either you like using it or you don't, it's like a novelty like someone else said. Last edited by quest01 : 10-25-2012 at 06:58 AM. |

I use Siri more than I thought. The best way to use it is for reminders. I am not super organized so this really helps me out if I have a quick thought I know I will forget in a day or 2. I also uze it to check the weather in the morning. YesI can open an app, but when I am half awake, holding a button down and asking is super easy.
Hippos, I am lucky in that the voice detection is great for me. I believe it may have to do with your carrier. If you are on sprint, it is probably horrible. I believe that the voice command is quickly sent to a server and processed so that explains why your voice detection may not work well. Google is the same way. Many many times it would not work on Sprint's inferior network. Now that I have verizon, I can use voice to text anytime..it rarely ever fails. I probably use voice texting more than typing. as for battery, what I love about the iphone is that I have made zero compromises to save battery besides manually pushing my work email, which I do on every device anyway. my screen is on auto, so it always looks ideal..etc. I think another reason the battery life is so superior is the OS is better developed for multitasking, but also the network I am on rarely has to search for a signal. This is why you dont want to ever sign up for sprint - trust me!!!!

I've tried every trick I know and there is no way my iPhone 5 will make it all day. I've gone to push notifications, disabled only apps that I need notifications on and did the same with location services. I've turned down the screen brightness. I'm wondering if we got a couple of lemons.

Who is your service provider? maybe you are roaming a lot. I think roaming a lot is the biggest battery crusher.

gf also complained about battery running out a couple hrs before reaching destination during our day long (9 hr) road trip. might be roaming since she was using the road app. time for car charging adapter?
