Virginia can win the Atlantic? Impressive. Not many players can beat players from Liberty and American.

Not true. UCLA has recruited several european players the past years, e.g. Tabatruong and Puget.

I was talking about now... or meaning next year.. what happened to Clay Thomson and Tabatruong and Puget ? I didn't see their names pop up at the regional tournament ?

Watched the Atlantic Regional final between Jenkins and Richmond. Richmond won in impressive fashion in straight sets: 6-4, 7-5

Jenkins returned well all match, but Richmond's all-court game kept the pressure on Jarmere all match. I came away thoroughly impressed with this 18 year old's game!!!!!

I'd be shocked if Jenkins gave his best effort. Keep in mind he's already in indoors, would be silly for him to beat his teammate who would not get in if he lost.....not saying Richmond isn't playing well, just no way he was going to lose that match, happens every year

I was wondering the same thing as well. Can someone confirm?

It was a very competitive and entertaining final with many great points. Both guys were going at it, and there were quite a number of winners (not the unforced error tennis you see from lower ranked players). I'd be very surprised if Jenkins threw the match. If he did hold back, that kid has a future in acting...

Only the champion from the regionals makes it. See below in bold.

As the only tournament on the ITA calendar to showcase elite players from every level of college tennis, the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships serves as the culmination of the fall season. Hosted by Columbia University, this prestigious event features a 32-player singles draw and a 20-team doubles draw for men and women.

Gaining automatic entry into the tournament are champions from the USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships held across the country in October, winners of the USTA/ITA National Small College Super Bowl, and the consolation champions, doubles finalists, men's singles quarterfinalists and women's singles semifinalists from the ITA Men’s and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

Northwest:

Krista Hardebeck (ST) wins the regionals against Annett Shutting (CAL).

Wow, well done Krista! I thought Nicole was dominating but I think Krista is even stronger.

A little more clarification on the Indoor qualifiers At-Large Selections:

Singles: (32 draw)
 8 ITA All‐American Quarterfinalists
 1 ITA All‐American Consolation Winner
 12 USTA/ITA Regional Champions
 1 USTA/ITA National Small College Champion
 1 Host Site wild card
 2 ITA wild cards
 1 USTA wild card
 6 At‐large (must all be a USTA/ITA Regional
Championship runner‐up)

At‐large Singles Criteria: To be considered for an at‐large selection in men’s singles, a player must have reached at
least the finals of a USTA/ITA Regional Championship. Six (6) at‐large selections will be made from the pool of
runners‐up from the 12 USTA/ITA Regional Championships, based on fall results/performance and ITA National
Preseason Rankings. Once the ranking list has been exhausted, the committee will make the selection based solely
on fall results/performance. (Approved by the ITA Division I Operating Committee, May 2012)

Did a little research just for fun, here you go:

2011 Regional Finals

Mengel Duke defeated Cunha Duke
Musialek Kentucky defeated Quigley Kentucky

2010 Regional Finals

Jenkins Virginia defeated Shabaz Virginia

2009 Regional Finals

Jenkins Virginia defeated Singh Virginia

2009 Regionals Semis

Corrie Texas defeated Kutrovsky Texas

In every case here the lower ranked player won and the higher ranked player received an atlarge bid to indoors.....just guessing again but I would say Jenkins may have an acting career ahead of him

Virginia is not a stranger to underhanded tactics.
