Took the pooch out for a stroll before its suppose to get really bad. Already a tree down. This one appears to be the runt of the litter. Weak sauce.

Bldg on 8th just collapsed, fire engines are going crazy right now, sirens everywhere...just walked outside on 34th and its madness...went into Duane Reade and bought Lindt 99% chocolate and some beef jerky blocks.

According to Scottish news paper there could perhaps be a risk to the servers of the Internet.. sounds crazy to me. What do you think??

We have 6,000 servers at the largest Data Center in the Eastern Region and they just informed me that they lost an incoming power feed and are on generator power for the next 24 hours, after that no Tubes or Internets.

2017 looks rough, you've got Hurricane Hilary, Hurricane Xina, Hurricane Zelda, and yes Hurricane Katia too. That year is a wrap.

You might want to make sure the batteries in your CO detector are fresh and/or explain to them electrical power is not necessary after they expire in their sleep (RIP Vitas)!

I conducted a survey and turns out I have one battery-operated radio and the only suitable battery is inside the fire alarm on the ceiling. Next time I’ll just buy a canoe to sleep in, just in case the whole island goes underwater lmao…

^^^Manorhaven and Sands Point are probably a virtual island of their own right now...Shore Road in Port Washington used to flood badly in mere conventional rainstorms when I lived there. Take your canoe up there...might take a few hours from Jamaica!

That sounds like a wonderful idea for a trip tonight. Heck, with sustained 45mph winds I won’t even need a paddle! I could just grab onto the downed electrical lines in the water to navigate!!

As someone who lived in Forest Hills (1970 - 1979) and for the last 30+ years in the Houston area my deepest hopes are that all in the North East get through ok.
Having lived thru quite a few Hurricanes it's not fun.......with our last big storm (IKE in 200 we had NO power for almost 11 days and it took a week before the first gas stations opened - of course none had gas on a regular basis......

I'm sitting in Siania, Romania this week on holiday and watching all this Sandy stuff live on Sky News and CNN and FOX Global........horrible fire in Breezy Point.

Power shutoff to lower manhattan. Holland, midtown, path train, and 7 other subway tunnels flooded and holding seawater. Looks like its gonna be a while before power is restored. Power station blew up on westside last night. Joeldali sent me eyewitness report. Gonna be a lot of ice cream melting at every corner store
