Can someone compare the QTour to Redondo MP? What are some of the pros/cons compared to the Redondo MP?

The BA98 is only not solid and stable enough in stock condition to me. That's why I leaded my BA98s up to 360 grams. Lead around the whole head from 4 to 8 and about 10 grams of silicone gel into the handle. Leather grip and overgrip. It would be a really perfect frame if it was as rock solid as the Redondo.

i took off the bumper guard of the redondo mid and replaced it with individual nylon grommets and added several grams of lead on the hoop at 2,4,8 and 10 o'oclok position. this makes the racquet feel a little head light but not loss stability. i stringed the racquet with a 17L string and found this provided more pops and spins.

Hey all, did a quick search but I didn't find much!
My mate is looking to finally replace his PT630's. He's used them for as long as I've known him but his are down to his last legs! While looking for a replacement he can still get, I suddenly thought of the Redondo MP! Anyone experienced both and would be willing to give a comparison? From the specs alone I thought it would be a good match since the similar flex/weight/SW. Thanks! -Fuji |

Can someone compare the MP w a Head I.prestige MP or even the current prestige MP? I hit with the head recently w freshly strung poly and I was pleasantly surprised. Or even compare it to the volkl pb10 mp
I have been wanitng to demo the redondo mp though and know its best to. Just wondering since the specs of both are appealing and also looking to hear feedback to know if it's worth to order a demo. I currently playing with a BB London that is weighted up to 12 oz most of the time. I do put in the rotation a volkl pb10 mp w leather and an early 90s Mizuno Turbo Pro 90 that is 13+ oz. even w a 16x19 bed it plays more like an 18x20 because the string pattern gets really dense in the sweet spot. I've been recovering fr elbow problems and just now getting back to polys after almost 2 years playing multi and syn guts. Thanks

Has anyone played the Redondo with a gut/poly hybrid. i have some left over from my Diablo and want to know how it play in the Redondo. Will i have similar results as with the Diablo or will there be a bit of adjustment to suffer through? Also i was reading through some old threads and found out out that in regards to tension the Redondo should be strung in the low 60s. i have it at 64/60 with an x-1/RIP hybrid but was wondering if any of have recently tried to lower your tension again to gauge the result?
thanks!

I have not tried gut-poly but tried only full gut at 47. Nice, soft, of course. In fact it was a tad too low. Would've been better at like 49-50 full gut.

I used to play with Champion's choice at 58# on my Redondo mid. Played very nice but it lost control after a while. Then I discovered Black Widow from Dunlop and never looked back.
I play with a full bed at 60# and it is just awesome. Great control and power lasts longer and no elbow/arm problems. |

I bought a 93 from Hola B Sports and it is only 26.75 inches long. It weighs 347.4 grams strung.
Do these racquets usually fall short of a full 27 inches? Thanks. |

Mine were perfect on specs but that was many years ago. I have heard anecdotal bits that their QC has declined. I bought another PK racquet later on that was 27 1/4 inches. But I actually preferred that.
I'm pretty sure that a quarter inch on length is withing racquet tolerances these days.

I remember my Redondo was a tad short of 27" until I extended it out to standard length. You may find 26.75" a fun to-to-play stick. I'm serious. I find that a tad shorter stick makes it "quicker" and have shortened my Redondo slightly to 26 14/16".

Finally got to hit with a Black Ace 98 - to me it just feels like a Redondo less the silicone in the handle. It has more pop but maybe because it's a little lighter as a result. It swing likes a 93 mid, but has a larger sweetspot and feels more forgiving. Nice little racket - I liked it today. I was able to set-up my onehbh much better due to the balance.... I have moved on from my Redondo so it was good to play with it. I'm gonna buy one now - it may replace my Laver Type C too.

I need help from the PK experts.... so I have the Laver Type "C" which I ASSUME comes from the Redondo mold - the thing is I need new grommets for it. My question is - will the grommets from the Redondo fit the Laver?
Also, I want to change the pallet from a 4 1/2 to a 4 3/8. When I took of the grip it looks like there is a seam so I figure I can just peel it off and put on another one - is that correct? Do I have to use a PK pallet or could I just put on another brand? Any advice would be appreciated!! |

And yes, the grommets will fit. And yes, you can change the pallet with PK pallet. You could try other brands but you may need to make adjustments.

Hi Gee
I just read your link. Were the bevels well defined on the Volkyl S Pallets or were they very rounded. Mike |

The bevels feel a bit less sharper than usual but I use an overgrip on my leather grip that feels comfortable to me. The Volkl S pallets are also a little smaller than Head TK82S pallets.

Not quite the forum type and it has been a while since I have been on tt-TW but selling most my rackets so I thought I might as well check out the thread that I have followed the most. Will check out the latest posts in the next couple of days. Mostly wanted to say that despite selling most my rackets, I am still keeping my Pro Kennex Type C rackets and the Redondo(have 4) is still my main racket after all these years. Found a picture that I think people in this thread would enjoy while I was searching for some racket pictures of the ones that I am selling(feel free to check the classified but trying to keep things local). Need to find that USB cord for my camera
Growing up in San Diego it would have been great to still see the "SD, CA" label on the newer iteration Type C's. |
