Currently using some old Babolat Pure Control Zylons weighted up to about 11.5 and I love them.
If I become affiliated with a particular manufacturer Id just go ahead and switch to something similar (six one 95/speed/prestige tour/tour 100/300 tour ext...) I'd try to stick to the 16 mains |

I expected either head or babolat to come out on top. I see head rackets everywhere. Wilson, I feel, is slowly slipping away due to paint jobs, quality control, and lack of popularity in the young crowd.

With the rise of djokivic and Murray Head takes the lead and I don't think it's a coincidence. In Feds hey day I bet Wilson was the winner .

I would have thought Babolat would be on top or just closer to the top.
I am happily surprised that Yonex has a decent crowd here on the forums.

Just acquired a beautiful NOS Yonex Rd 7 UL 315 grams. that's probably the best feeling racquet i ever used in my life. i would like to stay with it for 1 year, testing different sets-up( i know it is a very string-sesintive frame).

Head Extreme Pro 2.0 for me.
I prefer Head in general thus far, but I could play with any of the brands I've tried so far - Wilson, Donnay, Yonex. The Yonex was probably my least favorite. |

I was about to say Wilson, since I was planning to get two Blade 98 BLX. Now I'm not sure, given the fact many people here who focuses more on their sticks than their games (take it with a grain of salt) say they have consistency issues... Who to believe?

When I first started playing I used Head. Then was put on to the Wilson Hammer 6.2 stretch in High school. I have been using Wilson ever since. (currently six.one 100)

I guess i am finding the poll results a little surprising. Babolat is basically tied with Yonex and Dunlop. Prince is lagging.
It's interesting to compare the marketing of these brands. Prince has relied too much on dubious technical "advances" in my judgment. They once had the image of quality. Now I'm not sure what they're selling. They've gone after niches, but you have to be pretty knowledgeable to appreciate the distinctions. Other than the 100Tour control racquet, others have more appealing options, even within those niches. Dunlop offers a quality product, but they suffer from trying to be all things to all people. They lack a signature product. At least their racquet designations are understandable. The higher the number, the more power. I don't like the fact they seem to totally redo their line every year. The Aerogel 4d 200 Tour became the Biometic 200 Tour and now is the F2 or something. Confusing and detracts from having a signature product. Babolat has taken the exact opposite tack. They are all about signature products. Even casual fans can recognize "Rafa's racquet" or "Roddick's racquet." They change yearly, but the changes are largely cosmetic, just like Wilson does with its signature products. This translates into greater resale value. An APD is an APD, even though the color may be different. Yonex is an interesting company to me. Everyone says their quality is unsurpassed, and I believe it. Their sticks are visually stunning. They have suffered a bit IMO from their greatest asset, their strong identification with the women's game. Probably as many WTA players use PD's as Yonex, but no one would call the PD a girl's racquet. Yonex's marketing is a combination of prince and Dunlop. They offer a number of niche, even quirky, products, and they change them so often it is hard to follow their line. |
